Clinton News-Record, 1985-6-12, Page 21Tory dynasty featured
For over four decades the Tories have
reigned supreme in this province. Now their
days are numbered.
In a week's time the Liberals and NDP in-
tend to vote against the government and br-
ing to an end 42 years of Tgry rule in On-
tario.
Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m., CBLT will pre-
sent THE TORY DYNASTY - a half-hour
special that will examine Ontario's Tory
regime - its roots, struggles and its very re-
cent demise.
Fraser Kelly will host this half-hour
special and will examine: how the Tories
managed to stay in power all these years,
the origin of the `Big Blue Machine', how the
Tories have dealt with the issues of honest
government, alcohol, hydro and separate
schools, the Davis years, the PC convention
that chose Miller and the recent Provincial
Election that saw the PC government lose
its majority and consequently, its hold on
Ontario.
Joining Fraser Kelly to offer their
perspective on this -all-powerful political
dynasty are: Claire Westcott - former aide
and advisor to Bill Davis, Eddie Goodman -
Tory power -broker, James Allan - former
Treasurer during the Frost government,
former NDP leaders Stephen Lewis and
Donald C. McDonald and former Liberal
leader Robert Nixon.
Ten and a half month old Carlie Paquette (left) and twin Lindsay had fun playing with
their eatting utensils while their big sister, Adrienne enjoyed the food at the Holmesville
United Church supper. The annual ham, turkey and dressed pork supper, put on by the
UCW, drew a good crowd on June 6. (Anne Narejko photo)
