Clinton and area obituaries
A Hallett township native died in Windsor- Ken Johnston of Clinton, Neil Devereaux of
Western Hosital on June 2, 1985. Garnet Ray Mitchell, Randy Wilson of R.R. 4, Seaforth,
Mason, a veteran of World War 2, died in the Robert Andrews of London and William
Windsor hospital at the age of 75. Merrill of Orangeville, all nephews of the
Mr. Mason was born to Thomas 19 9. He and Ella deceased,
was He ed at pallbearers.
Cemetery.
Mason (nee McBrien) on Aug. 13,
married Dorothy Wilson at Brucefield
United Church on Feb. 27, 1943. A member
of the Moose Lodge, Windsor branch, Mr.
Mason was also a life member of the United
Commercial Travellers Association.
Mr. Mason was the owner of Mason Sales
and Advertising and retired in December,
1984.
Marion (Mrs. Ralph Totten) of Windsor
and Madelon (Mrs. George Yeats) of Clin-
ton survive their brother. He was also uncle
to Gwen (Mrs.Ken Johnston) of Clinton and
Graham and Rosie Yeats of Goderich.
The funeral was held at Ball and
Falconer Funeral Home on June 5.
Reverend William Barber of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church, Clinton presided.
John and Dan Devereaux of Seaforth and
Robert Wilson of Brucefield were flower
bearers while Graham Yeats of Goderich,

Mildred Brown
Mildred R. Brown, a native of Waltham
Abbey, Essex, Great Britain and longtime
Huron County resident, died at Huronview
on June 2.
Mrs. Brown, born Mildred Hare on Feb.
11, 1895 was the daughter of William and
Sarah Hare and she married James T.
Brown in Londesboro in December 1914. Mr.
Brown predeceased her in June 1968, and
three brothers also predeceased her.
Mrs. Brown was a Women's Institute
member and belonged to the First Baptist
Church in Clinton.
She leaves behind three daughters,
Beatrice i Mrs. Arthur Wilson ), of Trenton,
Stella I Mrs. Stewart Johnston 1, of Blyth and
Delores ( Mrs. Charles Lee 1, Clinton.
Mrs. Brown also has 20 grandchildren liv-
ing, 45 great grandchildren and one great

The funeral was held June 5 at Beattie
Funeral Home with interment in Clinton.
Reverend G.W. Kidd officiated.
Ken and Robert Lee, Wayne and Bob
Johnston, Roger Boulet and Clinton Wilson
were the pallbearers.
MAYETTE ANDERSON
Mayette Anderson, 93, of Warren,
Michigan, died Thursday, June 6.
The daughter of Fletcher and Angelina
McCartney, she was predeceased by her
husband Arnold Anderson in 1954.
She was also predeceased by three
brothers Clifford McCartney, of Detroit,
Lorne McCartney, of Goderich and Harvey
McCartney, of Goderich Township and two
sisters Lilian Howard, of Goderich and
Evelyn McCartney, of Detroit.
Surviving are one brother Ernest McCart-
ney, of Dodsland, Saskatchewan,. five
nieces, Mary Lomasney, of Garden City,
Michigan, Aileen Scheelha, of Edmonton,
Alta., Lula De Buschere, of Dodsland,
Evelyn Rowland, of Guelph and Mary Mur-
phy, of Clinton and three nephews Clifford
McCartney, of Warren, Michigan, Mervin
McCartney, of Calgary, Alberta and Ron
McCartney, of Goderich.
Funeral services were held on Saturday,

Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
Vera Ann Oliver
Vera Ann Oliver formerly of Seaforth,
died at Huronview in Clinton on Tuesday,
June 4, 1985 at the age of 83.
Born in Hallett Township September 13,
1901, she was the daughter of the late Hugh
Dunlop and the former Sarah Jane Martin.
She is survived by her husband Leslie
Oliver, of Huronview and daughter Mrs.
William (Joyce) Henderson of Egmondville,
daughter Mrs. Arthur ( Mavis) Bell, of St.
Paul's, Minnosota and a son, Dr. Glen
Oliver, of Huntsville, Texas. Also surviving
are 13 grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one sister, Maude
Dale and one brother Peter.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home and a funeral service
was held Friday, June 7 with Rev. James
Van Slyke officiating. Interment was at
Maitlandbank Cemetery , Seaforth.
Pallbearers were Blair Oliver, Brad Bell,
Ron Henderson, Kevin Henderson, Bruce
Henderson and Jeff Henderson.
Flowerbearers were Dane Oliver, Leeanne
Oliver, Lesley Oliver, Tracey Myers, San•
dra- Bell, Karen. Leonhardt and Lynn
Henderson.
Old readers bring back memories
CLINTON - The Afternoon Unit of Ontario
St. UCW met in the church parlor with 30
ladies present. Drusilla Prescott was in
charge of the meeting assisted by Leila
Johnston and Anna McConnell. Hymn
Saviour Teach Me Day by Day was sung.
The Scripture was taken from Corinthians I
Chapter 13, read by Leila Johnston.
Leila also offered prayer. The offering was
taken by Lula Merrill and dedicated by
Drusilla Prescott.
The program was School Days going back
t.j 1884-1885 and up to 1920 Drusilla Prescott,
Anne McConnell and Leila Johnston
presented some worthwhile readings from
old readers. Everyone enjoyed these

The minutes of the last meeting were read
and adopted. There were eight hospital and
17 home calls made. Lula Merrill read the
treasurer's report.
The general meeting is to be held at Gwen
Lavi)s' on June 11.
The Afternoon Unit is to put flowers in the
church for June. Lila Webster spoke on
plans for September meeting. A potluck sup-
per is to be held June 19 6:30 p.m. Marion
Powell closed the meeting with prayer. A
delicious lunch was enjoyed by all. Grace
Forbes and her group served.

Fleischauer-Kester
Dennis Fleischauer and Jenny Kester of
Clinton were married on April 27 at Our
Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Father J. P.
Nelligan officiated. The bride is the
daughter of Adrian and Mary Kester and the
groom is the son of Bill and Ruby
Fleischauer. Matron off honor was Tilly
Hartman and Dorothy Kester was the
bridesmaid. Greg Jervis was the best man
and Wayne Hartman ushered the guests into
the church. A wedding reception was field at
the Stanley Township Complex in Varna.
The newlyweds .are residing in Clinton.
