Interiors '85 features Clinton des LONDON - For the fourth year, Tim St. Louis of Raintree Design and Decoration is taking part in Orchestra London, Canada's ambitious funs -raising effort, Interiors '85. The yearly event showcases the talents of southwestern Ontario's best interior decorators. Held from May 23 to June 23 the event is being held this year at Hazelden, a spacious old home located at 1132 St. Anthony's Road, London. Interiors has been a project of Orchestra London for the past five years. Each showcase invites designers from the London area to redeocrate rooms and landscape the grounds some of London's finest homes. Interiors '85 features the 93 -year-old stone and frame home, Hazelden. The 20 rooms of this three, storey home are open to the public viewing as prominent interior design firms display a range of decorating styles from traditional to California beach house. In addition to bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living rooms and dining rooms, Hazelden features an office, a servant's suite and fitness room complete with sauna and jacuzzi. Around thehome the accent is on a low maintenancclassic design which reflects the era of Hazelden. Local landscape firms have executed the planting of beds of wildflowers, ground cover and flowering shrubs. Other prominent landscaping features include a gazebo, circular interlocking brick driveway, wrought iron fence and stone gate pillars. For Interiors '85, Clinton designer Tim St. I,ouis showcased his talents in a bed -sitting room. The dual functibn of this sitting and guest bedroom encourages one to relax and unwind. The luxury of natural fibres in conjunction with the natural forms and hues conjures images of more southern climate. The custom design of the bed -lounge, storage units and eclectic choice of accessories are hallmarks of Raintree Record sales . The 'Huron Country Playhouse box office hit a new record for ticket sales this season. "In one day we sold. over $5,500 in tickets", says Box Office Manager, Sandra Datars. "Although subscription sales are down somewhat, single tickets are moving quick- ly". "Huron Country Playhouse is well known for its fun -filled musicals; says Publicity Director Jane Gardner. "This year we are bringing back two popular hits from the past, ANNE OF GREEN- GABLES, a favourite Canadian classic written by Donald Harron (Now '1'V talk show host) and Norman Campbell; and the ever - popular THE SOUND OF MUSIC. ANNE OF GREEN GABLES opens for a three week run on June 28th. Fashion shows have proven to be popular in previous designers' showcases and will again play an important role in Interiors '85. This year there will be 10 fashion shows, scheduled on Thursdays and Fridays. Another popular event is the wine -tasting dinners, this year scheduled • for the evenings of June 11 and 12. Diners will feast on gourrnent fare and taste a selection of wines. ' Mary Walker, whose column, "Let's Decorate" is a regular feature inrthe Homes section of the London Free Press will be at Interiors '85 every Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. Ms. Walker has also authored the Homespun; Interior Design Simplified and was a recent guest at the Clinton Public I,ibrary. In addition, Interiors '85 will feature musical entertainment, designers in residence, a licensed dining area for light meals, and a raffle for a $3,000 Mitsubishi Stereo System. Advance tickets to Interiors '85 are $5 for adults and are available at the Orchestra London Canada Box Office on Wellington Street and at selected retail outlets. Tickets will be available at the door for $6 each, $4 for students. Every Wednesday is seniors day with tickets $4 at the door. Group tours are available by advance booking, phone 679-8558. Interiors '85 represents the largest fund- raising effort for the symphony•orchestra. Last year the totals surpassed the fund- raising goal, coming in at a total of $400,848. All fund-raising proceeds are exclusively designated for the operational support for Orchestra London Canada. The $1,369,049 operating budget is in reality a projected fiscal revenue for which there are only three. sources: concert performance, government grants and the orchestra's own fund-raising season which includes Interiors '85. Interiors '85 is closed.
