Artistic celebrations in '85
By Joan Chandler
A season to celebrate. As the Blyth
Festival Gallery enters its tenth year of art
exhibition, we are mounting our most ex-
citing programme even. There will be pain-
tings by world-renowned artists, work by
some of Canada's most imaginative artists
and rarely exhibited pieces by artists who
deserve recognition.
To kick off this special year the Gallery is
extending an invitation to all artists to par-
ticipate in an open juried competition. We
know there are many fine artists who would
1 I,e to exhibit their talents.- We are offering
them this opportunity to have their work
displayed in our summer festival of art. The
basic theme .is "anything that can be hung
oh a wall." A jury of Matthew Teitlebaum
( curator of contemporary art, ' London
Regional Art Gallery) and Sarah Brown
( former curator, Durham Art Gallery) will
be judging the entries. Juried awards will
be presented on opening night, June 21. Fur-
ther prizes will be chosen; by public ballot.
'These will be announced on July 16. Entry
forms and rules are available by. sending a
self-addressed stamped envelope to • the'
Blyth Festival Gallery, Box 10, Blyth,,Ont.,
NOM=1110. All entries are welcome.
The second ' show is "Several Dimen-
sions", an exhibition of work in a variety of
media. There will be sculpture, painting,
weaving, porcelain and work that defies
description. Art in several, dimensions, and
perhaps from several dimensions! • If you
think you've seen it all before, this one's for
you. The featured artists are I)a4vid Luksha
i Vanastra 1, Rob • TOG 1St. Columban 1,
Kathryn. I)rvsdale ( Montreal), Ann Roberts
