Garage sale
great success

The 10th annual garage sale of the Blyth
U.C.W. was a huge success.
The bake tables were empty within
minutes and it was a hard decision on what
plants to buy.
Sparlings Propane lent a grill again this
year to cook hotdogs. There was a great
response for donations from local
merchants for the auction at 11 a.m.
A list of contributors and their donations

Visitors enjoy

Melda McElroy had three visitors last
Sunday afternoon - Gladys White of Guelph,
Charlotte Ironside of Acton and Win Souther
of 'Toronto. They enjoyed their experience at
I3lyth's newly opened Blithe Spirit Tea
Room with its attractive English decor and
menu, and seeing Memorial. Hall, the
building which houses the Summer Festival.
• Mrs. Souther's nephew, Brian Stollery of
Edmonton, who is a graduate of the National
Theatre School, Montreal, acts in two of this
' summer's plays: Polderland and Primrose.
On leaving, the ladies said they certainly
plan to return this summer to enjoy more of
13lyth and to take in a play.
Seven tables of euchre were played
Monday night with the winners as follows:

Thorndike; High man, Jack Hesselwood;
1,o11' man, Jane Glousher (playing as a
ratan); Men's lone hand, Millar Richmond;
Ladies low hand, Verna Glazier; Special,
Nadine Scott.
Next week will be the last euchre party of
the season.
Helena Sanders had a 'delightful surprise
last Friday night when she saw a brand new

The Belgrave Brownies delighted an audience of more than 250 in
Clinton on May' 15 when they performed for The Noaorable Betty
Clay, daughter of Lord and Lady Baden Powell, the founders of

BELGRAVE - Three bridal sh.owers were
held in the community recently honoring
Kim McIntosh, Lori 'Thompson and Karen
C'oultes.
The Sunday School rooms of Knox United
Church were filled with wedding shower
decorations on May 19 'for Kim Mclntosh's
shower,
Mrs. Harold Vincent welcomed everyone
and Mrs. Garner Nicholson read a poen
that she composed 'for Kim. Mrs. George
Procter conducted a contest and Mrs.
Donald Pri)cter sang and played the piano.
The guests of honor. Kim, her mother
Mrs. John .McIntosh. and her sister Jaliet
sat in decorated .chairs and Kim was
present, d with many gifts•. lunch was serv-
ed by the Fourth 1,ine Laches.
At the WI Mall on May 17. a bridal shower
was held fur 1,ori Thompson. Mrs. Murray
Shiell welcomed the guests and Mrs. Donald
Dow led in a sing song.
Contests were led by Mrs. Jamie Hackett
and Mrs. Oltion. Mrs. Norrnatt ('oultes
gave 0 reading and Kathy Shiell read an ad-
dress to Lori. Many gifts were given to the
bride.
Neighbors and frieds hosted 0 shower for
Karen('ouftes, at the WI Hall on May 9. •
