that you do yourself a
iIfavour by taking advan-
tage of the many
popular travel services

Agency.
A close inspection of
our club over the past
few months indicates
that more and more of
our members are taking
advantage of both our
Auto Touring and
Travel Agency services.
Some of the Auto
Touring services you can
get to help you on your
trip include personalized
counselling by our
highly qualified and ex-
perienced travel staff. A
counsellor can show you
the most .-direct and
fastest route to your
destination or advise
you of a slowerbut more
scenic alternative. Once
your: route is set your
counsellor will - prepare
one of our famous Trip-
-. Tiks. Trip-Tiks are a
series of detailed strip
maps assembled in a
booklet -so that you can
flip from the first page
of your route and on to
successive pages as you
travel the highways and
on to your destination.
We will also provide you
with copies of our most
recent CAA -AAA Tour -
books which contain ex-
tensive descriptions of
the cities, things to do
and places to see in the
areas you are visiting.
The Tourbooks also in-
clude motel and hotel in-

restaurants in the area.
If your plans include
camping we also have a

Campbooks which will
be supplied.

Games can
help while
miles away
T -he Canadian -
Automobile Association
suggests these as some
of the games that will
help keep youngsters
amused -- and parent -
drivers cool and calm --
on' the long summer
trips that lie ahead:
• Round - Robin
Story: Each person has a
minute to make up part
of a story. The next in
tone must continue the
story with the last line
used by the person
preceding him.
• License Plate
Games: License plates
can lead to a whole
series of games. The
most common one is
making a list of all the
different provinces or
U.S. states spotted
throughout the trip.
Another is seeing who
can complete the
alphabet using the let-
ters in license plates.
• Grandmother's
Trunk: One person
starts with the saying,
"I looked in Grand-
mother's Trunk and
found. . The first
item must begin with an
"a," the second with a
"b" and so on through
the alphabet. Each
player must repeat the.
list in its entirety or he
is out of the game.
Free CAA guide books acclaimed
by many world-wide travellers
The world's most in-
formative and useful
automotive touring
guide books published
today are available free
to members of the Cana-
dian Automobile
Association.
They're the CAA -
AAA Tour Books, and
they have only one pur-
pose: to make your trips
as enjoyable as possible
by providing accurate,
detailed information
about accommodation
• routes and attractions
throughout North
America.
Last year 29 million of
them were produced as
well as 230 million maps.
They tell what to see,
how to get there,,where
to dine and'the est of
lodging - accommodation
in the area. They were
completely impartial,
and no hotel, motel,
restaurant, or attraction
pays for 'a listing. Each
is listed on merit alone,
after careful inspection
and approval by AAA
field representatives.
The Tour Books are
updated and expanded
each year, and the 1985
editions contain more in-
formation than ever
before. In the . last few
years, for example, more
than 500 restaurants
and • 5,000 new points of
interest have been add-
ed. This year, lodgings
that - have smoke detec-
tors or sprinkler
systems in guest rooms
are identified --the only
travel guides to publish
this important informa-
tion.

The .quality of lodg-
ings are identified by
`diamond symbols so you
can select the ones most
suitable for you -- from
one diamond to indicate
the ones that meet AAA
basic requirements for
recommendation, to five
diamonds for those that
are renowned. This year
the same system is also
used to classify major or
unique attractions of
special interest.
AAA inspections are
unannounced, and the
lodging rooms - to be in-
spected are selected by
the AAA representative.
Evaluation is based on
general maintenance,
guest safety,
cleanliness, disabled
facilities, and many
other criteria. Only'
when they meet AAA
standards are they given
AAA approval.
Restaurant inspections
require sampling of ser-
vice and cuisine, and
behind the scenes in-
spection of kitchens and
restrooms for
cleanliness and
maintenance. -
It's no wonder that
AAA Tour Books are so
highly acclaimed. Even
so, new information is
provided to CAA's
travel counsellors
through travel news and
accommodation
bulletins and a weather
network service.
All this for just one
purpose: to make your
trips as enjoyable as
possible.
