at barbecue
Good entertainment and good food go
hand in hand and this year's Klompen Feest
is sure to provide its audience with both.
Over 1,600 half chickens, 600 pounds of
potatoes and 40 gallons of corn will be
prepared to feed approximately 1,400 peo-
ple.
For the third consecutive year, Bill Flem-
ing, Clinton's Fleming Feed Mill workers
and several other people will be preparing
the chicken and potatoes, igniting the
barbecues and waiting until the food is cook-
ed to their specifications.
- The Klompen Feest chicken has a special
taste because the chefs use a mixture of but-
ter .and vinegar to bast the meat. The
potatoes are also cooked on barbecues, giv-
ing them added flavor.
The barbecue will be held on May 18 with
one sitting at 5 p.m. and a second sitting at 7
p.m. Each sitting will allow 700 people to en-
joy the meal at the Clinton Arena. Tickets
will cost $6 for adults and $4 for children,
giving the holder a barbecued chicken din-
ner with all the trimmings.
