Season winds u
Blyth Figure Skating Club has completed
another successful season. The power
skating group passed a total of 55 badges,
junior Canskate passed 21. Canskate ad-
vanced passed 27 and the Canfigure skaters
passed six badges.
Those passing Power Skating badges

Lions To Celebrate 40th
Anniversary
The Blyth Lions Club will celebrate their
40th Anniversary on Thursday; April 25. All
former Lions are invited to attend. Tickets
are now available. Any former Lions,who
wish to attend must contact convention
chairman Lion Lloyd Sippel by Thursday,
April 18.
Guest speaker for the evening will be past
district governor Bill Hanna from Shelburne
Lions Club.
The Blyth and Londesboro Lions Vegas
Night, held April 13 was again a success. Ap-
proximately $2000 was raised. All of this
money will be used in community activities
or Lions projects.
The Blyth Lions will be paying the cost of
busing Blyth and area children to swimming
lessons in Vanastra again this summer.
The winner of the Saturday night hockey
draw for March 30 was Larry Robinson and
for April 6, Grant Holmes.
- Lion Secretary John Stewart and •Mary
Lou attended the District A9 convention in
Owen Sound April 13 and 14.
Euchre results .
Eight tables of euchre were in play on
Monday evening in the Blyth Memorial Hall
with the winners as follows: High Lady,
Dorothy Daer; Low Lady, Pearl Bromley;
High Man, Charlie Bromley; Low Man,
Louis Phalen; Ladies Lone Hands, Marion
Haggett of Auburn; Men's Lone Hands,
Wilfred Shortreed of Walton; Special,

nock of Auburn regret very much her il-
lness. Eleanor is a patient in Victoria
Hospital. We sincerely hope her condition
will improve. We miss reading each week

WI has 35th annual meeting

LONDESBORO - Diana Shobbrook joined
Rev. Dave Snihur greeting worshippers at
Londesboro United Church. Ushers for the
day were Kathy Kennedy, Crystal Whyte
and Theresa and Melanie Knox.
Rev. Snihur announced the' youth group
held a Rock-a-thon on Friday and Saturday.
After 15 hours they realized approximately
$300.
Junior teacher was Marguerite Gross and
the anthem was• sung by the junior choir,
conducted by Marsha Szusz.
Explorers meet '
The Explorers meeting opened with the
Explorer purpose and. song. Kelly Bosman
and Kim Salverda did the Explorer
emblem. Joanne Wilts did Explorer pic-
tures.
The collection was, $3.25. The story was
called "The prettiest dress." For crafts the
girls decorated cupcakes. They also played
a game. - Press Secretary Tracy Kennedy.
35th WI Annual Meeting
The WI 35th annual meeting banquet was
held on April 10. Twenty members and two
visitors, Mrs. Don Spring and Mrs. Cecil
Elliott, attended.
Three life members, Nettie Clarke, Dora
Shobbrook and Mrs. Edwin Wood, were
presented with corsages. President Mrs.
Reg Lawson welcomed all and thanked the
ladies for preparing the turkey dinner. The
reply was made by Mrs. Edward Quinn.
Mrs. Dave. Anderson gave a review of 35
years ago when the president was Mrs. Myr-
tle Fairservice, Mrs. Spring gave a reading.
Thank you notes were received from Elsie
and Joe Shaddick, Marjorie Anderson and
the Kolkman family. An invitation was
received to Goderich Township on May 13 at
2 pan. Tweedsmuir from Elvena Webster
will be in charge of the Huronview birthday
party July 17 at 2 p.m. They are to supply
100 cupcakes or muffins. An invitation to the
Blyth WI 75th birthday dinner on May 2 at
12:30 was received.

Elliott. '
The May meeting is on Family Affairs
with a speaker from the Huron 'Centre for
Children and Youth.
4-H III Jolly Joggers
The seventh and final 4-H meeting was
held at the home of Marjorie Duizer. For the
Meeting we have to have a' finished picture
of a garment and the price. We also had to
have our finished garment. We talked about
the achievement night fashion show. We
learned bow to put mesh in our skirts, learn-
ed how to use snap tape. garment tape and

Songfest.
A full"houseattended and enjoyed'the 5th
Annual Londesboro Songfest on April 14.
Performers were from Londesboro, Mit-
chell, Goderich, .Blyth and Auburn. Master
of ceremonies was Rev. Dave' Snihur.
The Board of Stewards would like to thank
all who took part and the 'youth group for
providing lunch' for the performers.

Sympathy is, extended to the Shaddick
families on the sudden death, in Clinton
April 23, of Ruth Shaddick in her 75th year.
