Mr. McDonald spoke on the subject of
Christ Our Victor, the last in a series of ser-
mons on the Unwitting Witness of Christ. He
took as his text "He trusts in God, Let God
deliver Him". He said that is exactly what
Jesus always did, and that as a result God
delivered him as the Risen Living Lord.
"In life and in death God m Christ invites
us to trust in him", he said. "He is the God of
resurrection and life. More than we want to
live, he wants to give us life - new life now
and greater life to come."

vice was held at the United Church on

in the Maunday Thursday, Good Friday
drama through scripture readings. The

by Mildred E. Heller, with Sharon Kyle tak-
ing the solo. Mr. McDonald conducted the
communion service using the mode of

Following the reading off the scripture per-
taining to Jesus' death, the sanctuary went
into darkness until the sunrise service on
Easter Sunday when the service continued.
Approximately 130 people arrived at 7
a.m. for the Sunrise Service on Easter Sun-
day morning when the service, conducted
by members of the Senior Sunday School,
led the congregation from darkness into the
light of the Resurrection. Readings were
taken by Pam Gackstetter, Elizabeth
Thompson, Chris Campbell and Wayne Scot-
chmer. Joyce Pepper led the music on the
piano, and Scott McAllister and Bill Steb-
bins were the ushers.

Sweeties discuss clothes

:IPPEN - The seventh meeting of the
Sewing Sweeties was held on April 3 at the
home of Joyce Wilson. The meeting was
opened with the 4-H pledge, the minutes,
and then books were checked to make sure
they were complete. For the roll call,
members showed pictures of knit garments
from a catalogue and discussed whether
they were good buys or not. They talked
about how to construct a "Flash Dance
look" garment (baggy with outside seams).'
They also discussed whether it is better to
make or buy clothes, and learned how
careful they must be while sewing. with
stripes.

The annual meeting of the WI will be held
on April 17 at 6:30 in Hensall United Church.

Personals
Evelyn and Alex McBeath have returned
from a three-month stay in Florida: They
noted that fruit trees had been frozen, and
farmers were needing rain. Evelyn men-
tioned that Alex drove all the way, approx-
imately,1,350 miles each way.
The Energetic Eight met at Bev and Doris
Hamilton's on Wednesday, April 3. Cards
were enjoyed by all with Harold. Parsons
receiving the men's high, Bob Kinsman the
low, Margaret Hoggarth won the ladies'
high, and Doris .Hainilton the low. Phyllis
and Harold Parsons received a prize for
closest anniversary.
Greg Hoggarth flew home to Kippen from
Ottawa for the Easter weekend. He spent
Easter Monday at Waterloo University
:registering for his next term which begins in
'May.

Choruses open rally
South Huron Youth for Christ held their
April Rally on April 6 in Brucefield School.
Director Ron Westlake opened the rally with
several choruses with Sharon Parker at the
piaho. Rev. Gerry McMillan of Goderich
Pentecostal Church led the group in prayer.
Quizzing time followed. Teams were quizzed
on Psalms 133, 134, and 135. The results were
Bayfield, 1st; Zurich, 2nd; Exeter, 3rd. The
next rally they will be quizzed on Psalms
136,137 and 138.
The program was turned over to the Blue
Grass Gospelaires from Hagersville. They
,are trom the Inman Reserve, and wore
native dress for some numbers. They
presented their first package of .singing.
Afterwards their leader, Mr. Earl Sault,
delivered a very timely and convicting
message; bringing some of his own
testimony of his former life and his accep-
tance of Christ.
The May meeting will be held on Satur-
day, May 4 at the school with Mr. Sam Skin-
ner, evangelist from Windsor, along with
other special music.

Presbyterian Ladies was 11 1 on April 1

on display which had been finished by the -
quilt committee.
Arrangements were made for the birth-
day meeting on June 10. The next meeting
will be held Monday, June 10, at 2 p.m.

Her address was on "The Master's Touch".
Arrangements were concluded for the Daf-
fodil Tea and Bake Sale on Saturday, April
13 at 2 p.m.
Easter meeting
The Easter meeting of Unit III of Hensill
UCW was held on April 2. The worship was
conducted by Helen Roberts - the Theme
being "Prepare For Easter". Dorothy
Parker presided for the meeting and opened
with a poem. "Thank You" cards were read
from Harvey Jacobi and'Lauretta Riley. In-
vitations were received to attend the UCW
at Kippen and Zurich. Dorothy Brintnell had
the Study Book - a film was shown on
"Women in Korea". Pearl Taylor gave a
reading about "Gooseberry Pie".
DDP To Visit Lodge
Noble Grand Eunice Aikenhead, assisted
by Vice Grand Lois Jones, presided at the
meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge on April
3. The District meeting will be held in Clin-
ton on April 10 at 2:30 p.m. All Past Grands
are invited to attend and to supply a number
for entertainment.l?DP Kay Wise will make
her official visit on April 17.
An invitation was received to attend a
Dessert Euchre in Clinton May 1 at 1:30
p.m. Amber Dessert Euchre will be May 8 at
1:00 p.m.
UCW news
Unit IV of the Hensall UCW met on April 4.
Rena Caldwell had the devotional and read
the account of Good Friday by St. Luke.
Shirley Luther read Luke 24 and made the
Easter Story come alive.
Mary Roobol reported one get -well and
one birthday card sent. Roll call was
answered with 18 members with 93 visits.
An invitation was received to Kippen on
April, 9, with Gwen Whilsmith guest.

eter at 5:45 p.m. for St. Marys Presbyterial
- Bill B$ady will be the guest speaker. The
bale will be packed April 29, please have us-
ed clothing in before that date.
An invitation was extended to Zurich
United Church on May 2 the speaker will be
Mr. Gordon Erb.
Following the business, the ladies of Unit I
joined in viewing the film on "The Women of
North and South" shown by Elva Forrest.
Easter Service
The Easter service was conducted in
Carmel Presbyterian Church by Rev. Ken-
neth Knights who spoke on the sermon sub-
ject "Christ Is Risen." Miss Carolyn Love
' presided at the organ for the service of song,
and led the choir in song. The church was
decorated with special flowers, in keeping
with Easter. The Hensall and Community
Horticultpral Society donated a beautiful
hydrangis plant' which will be given to
Queensway Nursing Home.
There will be a Daffodil Tea and Bake
Sale in the church basement on Saturday,
April 13 at 2 p.m. Everyone welcome.
April 2. Several ladies from the community
attended the service. Erlene Stewart, Irene
Finlayson, Anita Bengough, Pearl
McKnight, Nellie Riley, Ida Dickert and An-
nie Reid assisted with the service. These
ladies also met with the activity director
and organized a euchre party in the rest
home for Friday, April 19. They will be help-
ing to organize euchre parties at Queensway
every second Friday.
The Baking Club met on Wednesday after-
noon. Bill Eveland showed how to make
zuchini cake. They also made chocolate chip
toll house cookies and chocolate toffee
dream bars.
Several residents' attended a retirement
tea for Marg Crich on April 3. Marg has
been with Queensway for six years as cook.
Thursday afternoon the movie "The
Legend of Sleepy Hollow was shown.
Friday evening an Easter concert was
shown featuring Coby and Irvine Amoraal.
As well as singing some beautiful songs and
hymns, they read from the Bible and shared
their feelings about the Easter holiday.
Saturday afternoon everyone painted
Easter Eggs. They were painted with food
coloring mixed. with water to dip the eggs.
'Then small paint brushes were used to paint
designs on there. Sunday brought a surprise
visitor. A large animal with long pointed
ears and a powder puff tail came in to wish
everyone a Happy Easter. The Bunny
distributed the eggs that were painted on
Saturday, as well as Easter favors donated
by Dave an& Mildred Kyle. Mildred
crocheted a little bunny to decorate an
Easter basket for each person at
Queensway. Residents. appreciate the kind-
ness and thoughtfulness shown by Mr. and
Mrs Kyle
