the guests. He should also include thanks to
both sets of parents, and to the bridesmaids
and maid of honor. He then makes a toast to
the bridesmaids: "To the lovely
bridesmaids (name them) and maid of
honor (name her) who have helped (the
bride) with the many preparations, I thank
them. You have added so much to this day,
enhancing it with your charm and beauty.
Ladies and gentlemen, I ask you to join me
in a toast to the bridesmaids."
The best man responds to this toast, and
includes in his speech comments on their at-
tractiveness and assistance to the bride. He
might also include some stories about pre-
nuptial happenings that involved the
bridesmaids. The best man might also make
a toast to the couple.
"I speak for myself, the ushers, maid of
honor and bridesmaids when I say that we
have considered it a great honor to have
participated in the wedding of our friends. I
hope we have, in some small way, helped to
make this day one of the most important in
your lives. Ladies and gentlemen, I ask you
to rise with me and drink a toast to the bride
and groom."
He may then introduce the bride's father,
who also thanks the guests for attending,
and makes a small speech about this major
occurrence in his and the bride's mother's
life.
