Beauty strategy for modern bride
"Today's bride may have been brought up
in jeans and jogging shoes, but every
woman dreams of romance and femininity
on her wedding day," says Glenn Roberts,
,Creative Beauty Director.
"Special touches and careful planning of
your beauty regimen and makeup selection
will do much to achieve prettiness of that
important day."
Glenn advises if you're thinking of chang-
ing or modifying makeup or hairstyle, do so
well in advance and then talk with a beauty
expert about new makeup colors and ap-
plication procedures. This way, there are no
unpleasant surprises on the important day.
It's necessary to rehearse hair and
makeup with the wedding ensemble — hat
or veil, dress and jewelry. If at all possible,
do so in the actual light you'll appear in.
The light of a house of worship, dim and
soft, contributes much to the charm and
mystery of the wedding ceremony. But, this
kind of lighting and the traditional white
favored by most brides can "wash out" the
features.
Be sure that makeup is applied equally to
all parts of the face and that it is well blend-
ed. "Daytime weddings are best suited by
soft, but lively pastels in light or medium
shades on Ups and cheeks.
"Eyes need shadow in soft, muted colors.
Use a pastel pink shadow on the brow bone,
a soft misty blue on the lids and a deeper
shade of misty blue on the contour.
"Evening ceremonies allow for more in-
tense color and makeup can be heightened
with deeper, richer shades," advises Glenn.
Lipstick- is an absolute must, of course,
but with all the congratulatory kissing
bound to go on, it can get easily smeared. To
help colour last, touch lips with a lip -fix
creme before applying lipstick.
It will also keep color from "feathering"
and "bleeding out" beyond the mouth — line
lips neatly with a brush or pencil first, and
then fill in the center.
Since the key to a radiant look is really
healthy skin, a facial one week before the
wedding is recommended. Skin and pores
will be deep cleaned and the one week
leeway will give any possible eruptions a
chance to heal.
Remember, too, that all eyes will be on
you. Being in the limelight means making
sure your appearance is polished to perfec-
tion. Planning carefully and taking time to
relax will help ensure that your day is a
perfect one.
