Weddings are historical....
from
Wedding ring: In the days of cave
dwellers, rings of braided grass were tied
around the bride's waist and anides to keep
her spirit from escaping. Early Egyptians
believed the circle a symbol of eternity - a
sign that life, happiness and love have no
beginning and no end.
Third finger, left hand: Ancient people
believed a vein in that finger ran directly to
the heaLj.
Bridal shower: Originated in Holland
when a maiden's marriage to a poor miller
was , forbidden by her father and sym-
pathetic neighbors "showered" the bride
with gifts to replace the traditional dowry.
Bridal veil: Use of the veil began as sym-
bol of youth and virginity. In some countries
today the groom never sees his bride's face
until they are legally married. Greek brides
wore flame-calored veils, early Christian
women wore white or purple and Anglo-
Saxon women hid their blushes behind their
own flowing hair.
Something blue: The brides of Israel in
ancient times wore a blue ribbon on the
border of their fringed robes to denote puri-
ty, fidelity and love.
Bride's bouquet: Ancient Roman brides
carried bunches of herbs under their wed-
ding veils as symbols of fertility and fideli-
ty. Lilies have long symbolized purity and
roses have stood for love. Ivy, used at early.
Greek weddings as a sign of love, is still us-
ed in wedding bouquets.

Sophistication is the word for this lovely lace gown featuring bridal wreath headdress. Touches of
maribou in the bride's bouquet add to the Christmas motif chosen by a December bride.
