Cosmeticians suggest a soft, natural look for spring brides
A bride wearing too much eye makeup
can look like someone gave her a shiner. To
avoid this, most cosmetician suggest a soft
natural look for the bride on her wedding
day.
Wear deeper, not brighter, colors, they
advise, because the white of the wedding
dress tends to make the bride's complexion
appear pale. Other steps suggested by pro-
fessionals.
•Cover prominent shadows under your
eyes, with a concealer one or two tones
lighter than your skin.
•Apply a light cover of foundation over
your entire face, including your lips. It
should match your natural skin color. For
oily skin, use a water-based foundation and
for normal to dry skin, use oil based.

•Set the foundation with a dusting of loose
translucent powder.
Add cheek color. Powder blush lasts
longer and looks more natural. Don't try
contouring as this will be too noticeable in
your photos.
.Apply eye color that complements your
blush and lip color. Browns, peaches, cin-
namon and dark green eye shadow enhance
peach blush; pink, plurn and grey shadow
complement plum blush. Brown and black
mascara give a natural effect, but avoid eye
liners and iridescent eye shadow because
they are too dramatic.
.Apply lip color by outlining lips with a lip
crayon, then fill them in with a dry lipstick.
Blot off the lipstick, then re -apply it. This
will make it last longer.
Carry the powder and lipstick with you
during the day, so you can retouch your lips
and powder your face to make the makeup
last. If you are using a water-based makeup,
it can be freshened by giving it a light spong-
ing with water.
Romantic trend
Attendants' dresses have come a long way
from the days of insipid pastel chiffon and
draped jersey gowns where styling came se-
cond to subtlety. The romantic trend is mak-
ing a welcome splash in the bridesmaid
market and ruffled taffetas, rosebud pat-
terned voiles and demure Southern belle
styles with deeply flounced necklines and
full skirts are new wedding party options
with a longer fashion lifespan.
Since the cost of bridesmaid's dresses has
climbed with inflation, many brides are
choosing attendants' outfits that don't
scream bridesmaid. Something that the at-
tendant can wear after the wedding.
The formal style of the Royal wedding has
influenced the hemline controversy. While
cocktail and ankle baring dresses were
popular

Wedding party colour schemes are usual-
ly on the pallid side but spring's most
popular shades - periwinkle blue, pink, rose
and apricot - are flattering to . almost
everyone.
Lingerie story
The lingerie story in 1985 will give
pleasure to the wearer first and to. the
viewer second.
Each person is different. It depends a lot
on the shape of the bride's dress. She could
wear a tap pant (French cut short pant) and
camisole or a teddy and tiny corselette in
satin with a lace garter belt.
All of these were considered not important
before,. but today, they are now enjoying a
Renaissance by the bride of '85. The lingerie
story unfolds a little. further to .report the
white peignoir is still a favourite choice for
the wedding night.
To let the magic live on the bride makes
her entrance into a whole new beginning.
She sets the stage with ivory Mace atop mat-
ching satin encrusted with pearls and se-
quins.
To toast the bride with a silver wine goblet
the groom can be handsome in a charcoal
cutaway with classic striped trousers or a
choice of a gray tuxedo with satin notch
lapels.
Wedding dresses are not something that
Ehange dramatically over the years. In
urope, the look is more elaborate, more
outrageous. The tend to go to pastels. We.
have a mixture of European embroidered
organza and embroidered tulle.
New for '85 is a very elaborate train with a
lot of frills. Most brides go with the tradi-
tional white but pinks and antique white are
also very important. Whatever 'the wedding
memory a beautiful dress, a diamond pen-
dant for her, wedding bands, a silver invita-
tion frame for the pleasure of your com-
pany, or flowers, it has to be remembered as
a very special day.
