Clinton firefighters
battle Seaforth blaze
SEAFORTH - Thirteen people were left
homeless but uninjured after a fire broke
out in the Seaforth Restaurant and Steak
House and spread to seven apartments. Also
damaged during the Feb. 18 blaze was
Moore's Bulk Foods, located beside the
restaurant on the Main ,and John Street
block. Damage is estimated to be in the area
of a several hundred thousand dollars.
The Clinton and Goderich Fire
Departments were called in at 1:30 a.m. to
help Seaforth firefighters. They battled the
blaze for several hours and left the scene
believing that it was extinguished. At 7:25'
a.m. they were called back as the buildings
were once again in flames.
Seaforth Fire Chief Harry Hak explained
that the false ceilings in the buildings hid the
fire. Chief Hak and fire investigator Bob
Adams have not yet determined the cause of
the fire
Carl Pursley, a tenant, was reading in bed
when he detected smoke coming through the
wall. He phoned the fire department,
dressed his three children and rushed them
outside. The other tenants were leaving the
building when Mr. Burnley went to warn
them of the fire.
Ken Roth, owner of the- block, said his
insurance would not cover the entire
damage. John Moore, owner of Moore's
.Bulk Foods, said that the damage may be
heavy enough to force him out of business.
Owners of the 75 seat restaurant are Jim
Kiritsis and his two brothers.
Apartment dwellers who escaped the fire
with Mr. Parsley and his family were Bill
and Tammy Brooker and their three month
old son, Steve Butt, Joe Magri, Pete
Martene, Keith Adams, and Walter and
Maude Eaton.
.athol .c school meetings
By Stephanie Levesque
Catholic ratepayers in Huron and Perth
Counties have been asked to watch for an-
nouncements of public meetings to be held
on the question of a Catholic high school.
The Huron -Perth Roman Catholic
Separate School Board's secondary school
planning committee has sent out a report
through the schools and churches in the two
cotlnties.
Trustee John Devlin of Stratford, chair-
man of the planning committee, said the
committee is now in the process of gather-
ing information. Once it has information it

Kingsbridge placed third. The St. Joesph's Separate School mixed floor hockey team gathers around Principal Ed Cappelli for last minute
instructions. (Anne Narejko photo)
"At the moment we're working out
specific details," said Mr. Devlin referring
to the committee's task of detailing how
Catholic high school(s) will be set up in the
two counties.
There was some, concern that not all
ratepayers received a copy of the report
which outlines the board's plan to set up one
or two Catholic high schools by September
1986.
"We want to make sure nobody. is left
out," said Mr. Devlin.
Copies are available at all Catholic
wants to present this to the public schools and churches.

The Energetic Eight met on Feb. 13 at the
home of Bev and Doris Hamilton, On the
way there the remaining six were
wondering if they would have made better
time with the horse and cutter, then when
they saw Hamilton's laneway they knew the
team of horses was necessary. Harold
Parsons waded in from the laneway to get
Bev out with the blower to let everyone in.
They think they could now be called the

capturing the low. Bev Hamilton was
awarded the men's high and Bdb Kinsman
received the men's low prize.
