Euchre's best in Brucfield

BRUCEFIELD - The Oddfellows held a
euchre party on January 25. Winners were:
high lady, Mrs. Jack Henderson; lone
hands, Joan Caldwell; low lady, Doreen
Bird; high man, Mac Wilson; lone hands,
Wallace Jackson; low man, Scott Caldwell;
draw winners, Marjorie Broadfoot and W.D.
Wilson.
The next euchre party will be held on
February 8.

Hensall Horticultural Society annual meeting
London rose gardens featured at meeting

HENSALL - The Hensall and Community
Horticultural Society will hold its annual
meeting on January 30, in the Hensall
United Church. Jack Smith, a Horticulture
member, showed slides of Scotland,
England and their beautiful flowerbeds and
also the rose gardens in London, Ontario.
Horticultural memberships are $2.00 a year
and new members are always welcome.
Annual meeting
The congregational meeting of Carmel
Presbyt ;Irian Church was held on January
23. Rev. Kenneth Knight was Chairman for
the meeting, Helen Thiel was Secretarv.
The nominating Committee presented the
officers for the coming term: Helen Thiel
and Russell Faber elected to the board Qf
managers for a three year term; auditors,
Jim and Marjorie Love; treasurer,
Clarence Volland; trustees, Marlene Bell
and Harry Moir.
Rev. Knight conducted worship in Carmel
Church on Sunday with Dorothy Taylor ac-
companying at the piano. The February
meeting of the PCW will be at the home of
Cathy Bell on February 4 at 2 p.m.
News and notes
A pleasant afternoon was had on Friday at
the home of Mrs. Jessie Armstrong when
her daughters Jean Love of London and Bet-
ty Flear of Grand Bend visited with her on
Kinenes aid disabled
CLINTON - The January general meeting
of the Clinton Kinettes was -held at the home
of Marie Jefferson on January i15. Honorary
Kinette Carol Lobb opened the meeting
leading the Kinette Song.
The Kinettes are donating $500 and a card
table and chair set to the Association of the
Mentally Retarded. This financial aid will
complete the funding • of a special
'wheelchair which the home in Clinton re-
quires. The Kinettes also donated $50 to the
Vanastra Recreation Centre.
The Hawaiian Dance committee
chairmen Marie Jefferson and Judy Turner
reported the final plans are taking shape for
the dance on March 2 and at the same time
distributed the dance tickets. -
Other community activities being
scheduled are the Red Cross Babysitting
Course, the Queen of the Fair Contest and
contestant dinner, and the Annual Beef
Barbecue/'50s-'60S Dance on June 8th.
Following the meeting, Mary Divok from
Mary's Sewing Centre gave an informative
talk and demonstration to the ladies about
colors.
On Saturday evening; January 26th, the
Kinettes and spouses held a bowling party.
Two regular games followed by a most
unusual game. For some folks, bowling can
prove to be more of a challenge when rolling
the ball from a sitting position or backwards
between their legs. Winners from the even-

8:30 on January 30 as they resume their
Huron -Perth house league schedule. The
boy's last game was snowed out on January
19.
The Bank of Montreal, information night
which was scheduled for Jan. 22 is
rescheduled for January 30 at 8 p.m.
Pineridge Snowmobile Inc. Poker Rally
held on Sunday was a great success with 244
participants. Winners included: first, Mar-
jorie Johns $50; 2nd prize, Mike Monk $45;
3rd price, John Passmore $40.

An enjoyable evening was spent at the
Northcrest 'Home. on Thursday when
residents gathered in honor of Jessie Arm-
strong who was observing her birthday.
Games were played and a social time was
held by all, after which refreshments were
