Skaters take top awards
CLINTON - Tough competition and top
notch skating were highlighted at the Fifth
Annual Clinton Skating Competition on
January 24.
Skaters competed in three categories,
dance, free skate and prepared solo.
In the dance categories winners included:
intermediate - lst, Sherri Preszcator and
Lisa Beattie; 2nd, Julia Ritchie and Ruth
Ann White; 3rd, Melanie McCone and Paula
Glew. Novice dance - Jody Horton and
Robyn Hicks; Susan Jewitt and Krista
McAsh; Kyra Aylsworth and Stacey Reid.
Junior dance - Stacy, Hicks and Lisa
Shepherd; Sheila Cook and Debbie Draper;
Julie Rutledge and Kara Hiltz. Senior dance
- Kim Cook, Jacquie Draper, Shannon
Preszcator.
In the free skate competition, winners
were, 'in first, second and third positions:
novice - Stacey Fleet, Rachel Jenkins, Lee
Anne Levis. Junior - Lori Powell, Sheila
Cook, Stacy Hicks. Pre Novice - Amy
LeBeau, Becky LeBeau, Kristy Buchanan.
Senior - Jacquie Draper, Shannon
Preszcator, Jody Merner. Advanced Novice
- Debbie Draper, Kyra Aylsworth, Robyn
Hicks. Intermediate - Paula Glew, Melanie

The congregational Budget, $67,000
presented by Jean Jacobs chairman of the
Stewardship Division, was received as the:
1985 budget for the congregation.
The congregation also passed a resolution
that there be no church service on Sunday,
June- 30-; in -order that theservice be held in
the Seaforth Community Centre.
A vote of thanks was extended from the
congregation in appreciation . of the fine
work to the supply organist Belva Fuss and
the Senior Choir along with the Junior 'Choir
. and also to Doug Klopp and the Senior Choir
for the music over Christmas.
The congregation are alsolooking for-
ward to the 100th Anniversary of the Chuitch
building in 1986 and the official Board were
asked to form a committee to begin plans
for the Celebration throughout 1986.

Pick and ail the nurses an first floor of the Clinton
Public Hospital for their divine healing while I
was a patient there. To the Ontario Street United
Church U.C.W., the Golden Radar Club, friends
and neighbours for visits, get well cards and
gifts, accept my deepest appreciation. Edo

The family of the late Rosamond Garrett wish to
express our sincere thanks and appreciation to
relatives, friends and neighbours for their floral
tributes, charitable donations and many acts of
kindness during the Toss of a dear wife and
mother. We also wish to thank nurses on 1st
floor of Clinton Public Hospital, Dr. Salsbury,
Rev. Pick and Michael Falconer (Ball & Falconer
Funeral Home) for their comforting words. Also
thanks to the Order of the Eastern Star for their

Mrs. Wright received her past president's
pin and Mrs. Chilton was presented with her
president's pin and the gavel as a symbol of
her responsibilities in her new office.
The monthly meeting for January
- followed the annual meeting; with 23
members present.,
Treasures , Roberta Plumsteel, read a .
bank balance of $58.00, showing a need for
some major fund raising projects to be
organized. Two cheques in the .amount of
$100.00 were sent to the Auxiliary by family
members, in appreciation for the care,and
interest shown to Florence Duke while she
was a patient on the second floor... The
Trillium Club sent a cheque, and many notes
of appreciation were received from hospital
staff members, and from the Administrator
Dan Steyn, for the many ways in which the
Auxiliary had helped the hospital in the past
year.
Iris Montgomery, Gift. Shop convenor,
reported on sales in December. Volunteers
are always needed to staff the shop as it is
open every day from 2 to 4 p.m. for the
benefit of patients and the public.
Marg Caldwell reported that 20
permanents and -or sets had been given in
December, an especially busy time as
everyone wanted to look their best' for the
festive season.
The Nursery School sang carols for
patients at Christmas, and a large
Christmas party featured music by Gladys
Van Egmond, Roy Cantelon and Elgin Nott.
Rev. Simmons conducted a Communion
Service; Santa Claus distributed gifts, and
cookies and punch were enjoyed.
The New Year's baby, born to Mr. and
Mrs. John Neutel of Vanastra at 3:30 a.m. on
January 1, 1985, was the firstborn of Huron
County. Baby Bl-ian was presented with a
silver mug by Joyce Chilton, and the entire
family had their pictures taken together.
The accreditation committee is working to
update the bylaws and constitution, and the
job description for. officers and committee
recommendations are to
be brought to an Auxiliary meeting by the
chairman, Marny Walden, as soon as they
are completed. Tray favors for Valentine's
Day will be provided by the Wesley -Willis
Senior Sunday School class.
Vanishing Parties are about to take place
again - starting on February 14, convened by
Marie Proctor, with a •committee to be
chosen.
And set aside the final week of September
to help with the 31st annual Penny Sale, the
draw to be on Saturday, September 28! -

CLINTON BY-LAWS
By -Law No. 25-1979
Please take note that Owners or Occupiers of all cont-
merclal or business buildings In the Zone 5 or Downtown
area are required to keep all sidewalks adjoining their
buildings clear of snow and ice.
You must also remove snow and Ice from the roof
overhang so that pedestrians will not be endangered.
By -Law No. 2-1981
Citizens are forbidden to deposit snow or ice on the
travelled or plowed portion of any Clinton street or In any
manner that would obstruct normal visibility for the safe
movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
By -Law No. 3-1972 and 5-1974
Operators of snowmobiles are forbidden to operate
their machines:
1) On private property without the permission of the
owner
2) On any sidewalk or boulevard In Clinton
3) Within the Community Park without the permission of
the Clinton Recreation Committee
4) On No. 4 or No. 8 highways
5) Or from midnight to 7 a.m. *seeps to return to your
residence.
