The Three of Them By Melda McElroy Harold, Ebony and Myrtle out/for walks we'll miss. Ebony carefully avoiding bumps and cracks in sidewalks, making for her Master strolls secure and free from fear. Myrtle following close behind making doubly sure. We will miss the Three of them. Harold, Ebony and Myrtle walking into church we'll miss. Myrtle going to the choir. Harold and Ebony taking places at the back to worship each his God. Ebony escorting Harold out and down the steps allowing time for acknowledgement of greetings from their many friends. We will miss the Three of them. Harold, Ebony and Myrtle in their happy home surroundings home we will miss. Visits at the Vodden's were always something , special. Harold with his sense of humour telling jokes, recalling incidents with that knowing smile of his, while entertaining drop-in friends. Myrtle always bright and busy serving tea and what there was on hand. Ebony relaxed on floor near table lap- ping up all compliments extended. Friends left the Vodden home with spirits lifted up. We will miss the Three of them. Each of this team of Three had duties with meaningful objectives to perform. 'Harold caning chairs, his work in great demand. Myrtle keeping house and records. Ebony conscious of her Master's every need, doing well what was required. This team of three exists no more. Harold will be missed by Myrtle, Ebony. -and us all.
