CW study lifestyies of
Korean peopleat meeting

HENSALL - Nan Britton led the Jan. 3
b UCW meeting. She opened with a poem for
the New Year, followed by the singing of
"Guide me 0 Thou Great Jehovah." Nan
Britton based the devotional on the first
verse of the Bible.
She suggested that the New Year can be a
time oLayew beginnings.
Minutes were read and approved and 13
members answered the roll call. Fifty-seven
visits were reported. Myrtle Sherritt
reported the givings for December were
over $79.00. The offering was i r•eived by
Vera Lernmen.
Elva Forrest showed a film on Korea for
the study that gave a day's insight into the
Christian influence in the political, social
and industrial life. Twenty-five percent of
the South Koreans are Christian. Elva serv-
ed Korean mushroom soup during the view-
ing of the film.
Rebekah Lodge
The members of Amber Rebekah Lodge.
349 met on Jan. 2 with Noble Grand Eunice
Aikenhead presiding assisted by Vice Grand
Lois Jones. A thank you note was received
from the Huron Day Care Centre for the
Homebound for the donation sent to them.
It was announced the Humanitarian Ser-
vices Committee will be holding a euchre
party in the lodge room, January 10 at .8
p.m.
The United Church ladies are to cater for
a banquet on Feb. 6th when Kay Wise and
the Vice president of the Rebekah Assembly
will be attending along with the sisters of
Edelweiss Lodge, Seaforth.
i:OOF Lodge
The I.O.O.F. Lodge members had a suc-
cessful New Year's Eve,,party at the local
hall. The ladies provided a meal and music
by the -Cavaliers was enjoyed. On January
10 at 8 p.m. they are holding a euchre party
in the, local hall and everyone is welcome.
South Huron Youth
For Christ
South Huron Youth For Christ held the
January Rally on Jan. 5 in Brucefield School
with over 200 in 'attendance. Director Ron
Westlake was in charge.
The rally opened by singing rhnruses and
Martin accompanied at the piano and
prayer by Ron Westlake followed.
Quizzing followed with five teams com-
peting. They quizzed on Psalms 124, 125, and
126. Bayfield scored first, Zurich second,
Goderich third, Exeter fourth and Seaforth
fifth. Next month they will quiz on Psalms
127,128 and 129.
Sharon Parker sang a solo accompanying
herself on the piano. "The Paradise
Players" from Glad Tidings Church, Lon-
don then took charge.
During the intermission, the Larry Hut-
chins . family from Goderich sang two
numbers.
The Paradise Players continued with
more dramatized gospel messages.
- This was one of the most spiritual rallies
of the year: The February Rally will be in a
form of a skating party on February 2 in the
Zurich Arena at 7 p.m. There will be
skating, gniz7ing, a short program

HOLMESVILLE - The Worship Service at
Holmesville United was well attended on
Sunday Morning. Communion was
celebrated at" the morning service. The
senior choir sang during the service. Rev.
Bechtel spoke to the children about New
Years. Murray Lobb and Larry Rutledge
received the offering.
The Goderich Twp. W.I. will hold a card
party January 10 at 8 p.m. in the Community
• Centre in Holmesville, also one on January
24.
The 'Enterprising Seniors will meet for
their first meeting of the New Year January
14 at 2 p.m. at the Community Centre in
Holmesville.
Bantam Boys
The Hensall Bantam Boys will be holding
a bottle drive on Saturday, January 12, to
raise moneyfor the team to travel to tourna-
ments. The boys thank you for your support
in this effort:
The boys will play Mitchell at 8:30 on
January 9.
Queensway Nursing Home News
Queensway residents welcomed 1985 in
style. On Dec. 31 they danced and reminisc-
ed to the tunes of yesterday's "big bands".
Equipped with party hats and noisemakers
everyone rang in the New Year with a
cheer.
The church service was held on Thursday
with Rev. Jim Sutton in charge. Friday
afternoon was Games Day in the Rest
Home. Euchre and crokinole were played.
Many spent the Christmas holidays with
families. Queensway also entertained
visitors over the holiday season.
United Church
The United Church service on Sunday
morning opened with a Chapel Hymn Sing,
singing many of the old favourites through
the years. The large attendance, was greeted
by Harold Parsons and Donald Wareing,
Scott McAllister, Bill Stebbins and Doug
Kyle were the ushers for the day.
The organist. Mrs. Belva Fuss, and senior

choir led- the ministry of music and Mr.
McDonald spoke on the subject of the "Im-
portance of Egypt".
The children's story for the day was
"What will be put unto this year." Mr.
McDonald had a waste paper can as well as
a new calendar and the children decided
which place they would put the different
things.
The flowers at the front of the church were
placed in memory of Mrs. John Jarrott.
Following the service the congregation en-
joyed an hour of fellowship over coffee and
cookies with Lorna Spencer and Mary
Britnell as hostesses.

Mrs. R. Watson of Seaforth spent New
Year's with her sister Mrs. C. Christie.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wasson of Nova
Scotia have retuned to their home after
spending the holidays with their daughter
Mrs. Bill Tinnet and her family.
• Holiday visitors at the same home were
Mr. and Mrs. Brian Schultz, Gaderich, Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Wasson Jr., Exeter, Mr. and
Mrs. Doug Tajlor, Stratford, Mr. and Mrs.
Basil O'Brien, Karen and Richard, Crediton
and Scott Eveland, Crediton all with their
families.
Mrs. C. Christie visited at Christmas with
Mr. and Mrs. Dan O'Neill and Christie at
