A number of residents went out for the day
to be with family and friends. Those who
stayed, enjoyed turkey dinner with all the
trimmings and Christmas pudding.
On December 26 Ed Stiles of Goderich ,-

Clfristmas music on the chapel organ.
On December 28 Marie Flynn and the
Huron Strings presented a program of old
time favourites, as well as carols. Robin
Hicks, a talented young lady, played a cou-
ple of selections on the electric keyboard.
Stacey Hicks danced a fine routine and
following this, Stacey and Lisa Shephard
sang a duet "Sweetest Name Of All". Lisa
Kennedy and Kelly Bosman danced a splen-
did reel. Crystal Brennan another talented
dancer did a fine waltz clog. Singing a duet,
were Wesley rennan and Andrea Leeking

the festive season are
special, and when families and friends get
together to celebrate, times like these are
extra special. Parties for two very fine
ladies were planned for December 27. Mrs.
Mary McAllister was honored as family and
friends joined her on this happy occasion.
Mrs. Alicia Leyburn was so honoured as
well, when members of the family and
friends made this a special day for her.
The 2nd Clinton Girl Guides enrolled 10 new
Guides on Dec. 17 at the Clinton Town Hall. Christine Fowlle, Jennifer Burt, Christine
Stricklnd, Kara Hiltz, Angela Murray, Theresa Siegel, Marsha McLean, Kayley Mills,
Christine Stautener and Alison Grigg were all inducted into guides. To the rear are

Mary H. Arthur
A Clinton resident for 19 years, and Ladies
Auxiliary member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Clinton Branch 140, Mary H. Arthur,
died at Clinton Public Hospital on December
25. She was 73 years old.
The 134 King St., Clinton resident moved
to Clinton in 1965 from Wingham.. She was .
born in Wingham on July 27, 1911 and was
the daughter of Addison and Annie
Hingston. i
On September 27; 1927 she married John
Wilfred Arthur in Ripley. He predeceased
her in 1977.
Mrs. Arthur was also predeceased by one
son John and three daughters in infancy.
She was also predeceased by a great grand-
child, Tara Anger.
Mrs. Arthur is survived by five
daughtlers: Mrs. Earl (Helen) Hayes of
• Holyrood; Mrs. Ben (Gwen) Rienhart of
Okanagan Falls, B.C.; Mrs. Nick (Veda)
Conte of Toronto; Mrs. Jack (Joan) Ein-
boden of Toronto; Mrs. Bob (Willa) Harris
off Bluevale and two sons, Raymond of
Wingham and David of Clinton. •
Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and
nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Arthur was predeceased by two
sisters, Carrie Cruickshank and Cora
Hingston and two brothers, Cliff and Lloyd
Hingston.
Funeral services were held at the Beattie
Funeral Home in Clinton on December 28
with Rev. James Bechtel officiating. Inter-
ment was held at the Wingham Cemetery.
Mildred Ivertta Edwards
Funeral services were held at the Ball and
Falconer Funeral Home on January 5 for
IvVIildred (Millie) Ivertta Edwards.
Rev. Norman Pick . of Ontario Street
United Church, Clinton officiated•and inter-
ment was held at the Clinton Cemetery.
Mrs. Edwards of Clinton died at Huronview
on January 3„ She was 71 years old.
She was born in Huron County on July 9,
1913, to Cecil Cpoper and• the former Allie
Allison.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her•husband,
Emmerson Edwards and four. children, Vi-
vian Graham of . Ruscom, William of
Dresden, Howard of RR 5 Clinton and
Fredrick of Amherstburg.
Also surviving are several brothers and
sisters: Mrs. Percy (Elsie) Elliott of Port
Colborne, Mrs. Edgar (Mary) Hudson of
Windsor,, Mrs. John (Helen) Fraser of Van-
couver, Mrs. Harry (Frances} Hansford of
North York, Clayton Cooper or Indianola,
Iowa, Edwin and Don Cooper, both of Clin-
ton.
She was predeceased by three brothers,
Cliff, Cecil and Harvey Cooper. •
UCW meeting held,
CLINTON - Nineteen ladies of the Wesley
Willis UCW. Afternoon Unit, held their
Christmas meeting on December 20.
' Edna Stewart greeted the ladies and con-
ducted the business. Helen Rathwell's group
was in charge of the worship service. They
used several readings to emphasize the
meaning of Christmas.
Mrs. Stewart and Mary Dale assisted and
carols were sung. Members also held a
small gift exchange.

Janis deWeerd and Jake deKoning, both of
Willowdale, were married in the Clinton
Christian Reformed Church on November 3
by Rev. Neil deKoning, the groom's brother.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jan
deKoning of Willowdale and the bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stien deWeerd of
'Clinton. Matron of honour was Irene Brooks,
friend of the bride, from Clinton. Another
friend, Marg Vandenburg of Toronto, Trudy
MacDonald, sister of the bride, from Blyth
and Reanne MacDonald, niece of the bride,
from Blyth were bridesmaids. The
flowergirl was Jasmine deWeerd, niece of
the bride, from Londesboro. The groom's
brother, Nick deKoning of Willowdale was
the best man. Two friends, Jack Roeleveld
of Richmond Hill and Ed Vanderveen of
Brampton ushered guests into the church.
Following a reception at the Seaforth Legion
Hall, the newlyweds honeymooned at
Niagara Falls. They are now making their
home at 128 Townsend Street, ' Clinton. (Pat

HURONVIEW - The Spirit of Christmas
was well witnessed at Huronview,_ and
everyone had a part to play in staging the
events of the festive season. It has been a
busy time, but certainly an enjoyable one.
The Laketown Band from Goderich enter-
tained and with conductor Blake Smith,
presented an excellent concert of Christmas
music. The band played a number of
spirited selection, and residents joined in
the singing of carols. The highlight of the
program was the saxophone solo, '0 Holy
Night' played by Mr. Smith and accom-
panied at the piano by Irla Stewart.
The Salvation Army from Goderich made
their annual Christmas visit. They went
through the halls playing carols and
distributing gifts. This was a joyous time for
the residents.
About 55 Huronview residents went to see
the concert presented 'by the public school
children at Blyth. The pupils and their
teachers staged the Christmas Story with
music and song. There was a lot to
memorize, but the'children did an excellent
job. Mr. Black introduced the numbers, and
Shirley Vincent was the accompanist.
Refreshments were served at the conclusion
of the concert.
The Craigellen Singers also entertained at
Huronview over the Christmas season.
Under the direction of, Ila Worsell accom-
panist, this splendid group of ladies
presented a delightful concert of Christmas
music and song. Shirley McMillan with her
saxophone, and Don McMillan on trombone,
played instrwnentals and accompanied the
ladies with a few of their selections. Harry
Worsell introduced the singing of carols.

MRS. MILDRED (COOPER) EDWARDS of
Clinton died on Thursday, January 3,,1985.
Funeral service was held on Saturday,
January 5, 1985.
MRS. MARY MARGUERITE (RIEHL)
JENKINS of RR 2, Cayuga and formerly of
Clinton•died on Saturday, January 5, 1985.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday,
January 9, 1985.
Mrs. Prouty in charge, and who also led in
the singing of carols. Helen Fischer played
"Silent Night" on her comb.
The scripture lesson was read by Milford
Prouty, followed by prayer nequests and
prayer. The Wisemen are led by the Star to
where Jesus lived, was the message given
by Mrs. Prouty.
The annual Christmas party for the
'residents was held in the auditoriurn, with a
large attendance. Diets were fairly well
forgotten as everyone sampled all the
goodies. Trays of assorted Christmas
cookies and little cakes were served, and it
was all too tempting,not to _try -one of
everything. Thanks to Betty Rogers and her
staff for this delicious treat.
In the evening, the Young People's Group
of, Calvin Pentecostal Church brought a
message of song as they went through the
halls, singing the carols. Christmas worship
was conducted by Rev. Norman Pick. The
traditional story of the birth of Jesus was
given. In front of the chapel was an array of
beautiful poinsettias that added color to the
service.
Elsie Henderson and Margaret McQueen
sang a duet, and the choir also sang, accom-
panied at the organ by Frank Bissett.
