Due to the heavy snow stone, on Monday
evening the Auburn Horticultural Society
postponed their annual meeting to Monday
January 14 at 1 p.m. in the Auburn Com-
munity "Memorial Hall. Tom Perry will
speak on his work at the Soil -Lab store 'aau
Auburn.
LIONS CLUB
The Auburn and District Lion's Club held
their meeting in the Auburn Community
Memorial hall with dinner catered by the
Women's Institute members. Lion Presi-
dent, Ross Dobie was in charge of the
meeting. ,Plans for a Valentine's dance were
made for February 16. Plans are also being
made to hold a pancake breakfast on
February 24th, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. New
members meeting will be held on January
16 with dinner at 7 p.m. Gentlemen of the
community wishing to attend please contact
any Lion's club member.
Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Rodger visited last
Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Randy Maize at
Port Albert.
Education and Cultural Activities will be
the topic at the January 15 Women's In-
stitute meeting to be held at the Auburn
Community Memorial hall at 2 p.m.
Mr. Larry Chamney and son, Patrick, of
Ottawa, visited his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Chamney for a few days last week.
Guests last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Emerson Rodger were. Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Rodger, Sheila and Neil, R.R. 1 Auburn,
Warren Rodger of Bayfield. Miss Vickie
Rodger of Barrie and Rob Siddon of Wiar-
ton.
Mrs. Gerrit Beimers is a patient in Clinton
hospital.
Holiday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Doer and Gordon Daer were Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Dewar, Keith, Carol, Karen and
friend of Atwood, Mr. and Mrs. Brian
Wallace, Owen and Stacey of Dorchester,
Mrs. Shirley Rolston of London, Mr. Larry
Daer and friend of London, Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin Daer, Michael and Nicolas of
Goderich and Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Burns,
Paul and David, of Stratford and Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Youngblut, Christine and Gordon
of Woodstock.
Mrs. Roy Cope and daughter Carol of Lon-
don visited last week with their cousin Mrs.
Marjorie McDougall.
J.K. Young of Mitchell and his son R.J.
Young of Stratford visited last Thursday
with Mrs. Tom Johnston and Miss Laura
Phillips.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Williams of Willowdale
spent the weekend, with Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Cartwright and David Cartwright.
Miss Lorie Cartwright of Toronto spent the
weekend with her parents and brother.
Epiphany Sunday, when churches com-
memorate the showing of Christ to the Wise
Men, was observed last Sunday at Knox
United Church. Mr. Gary Shuttleworth was
in charge and spoke on the theme - The
Wealth of God. A duet, Jesus is Coming
Again, was sung by Mr. Barry Millian and
his daughter Lori. They were accompanied
by Mrs. Barry Millian on the piano. The
Junior congregation was surprised by Mrs.
Hass Dobie and Mrs. Glen Webster. The
organist for the service was Mrs. Gordon
Gross and the ushers were Mr. Peter
Verbeek and Mr. Murray Rollinson. It was
announced that the Communion service will
be held on January 26th.
The Auburn Trustees met last Saturday
evening to hire a secretary for the village
but Po written applications were received.
The secretary, Mrs. Ross Dobie, read the
minutes which were accepted. Bills were
passed to be paid and it was announced that
the new fan for the library was working and
doing a good job. Other business discussed
included snowploughing and the trustees
voted to again give the Horticulture Society
a grant to assist them with their plants in
1985.
When Christ comes to the world was the
theme of the message given by Mr. Gary
Shuttleworth last Sunday at the Knox United"
Church. Mrs. Barry Millian was the
organist and a piano instrumental was
played during the service by Lori Millian_
Theushers were Bob Worsell and Larry
Plaetzer. It was announced that service of
Holy Communion will be held on January
13th.
DRAW WINNERS
Prize winners at recent draw held during
the past week at the Village Market
were. W.R. Volk, Gerrit Beimers,
Marget Bakker, Bernice Gross, Nancy
Good, William Moss, Dorothy Schneider.
The winner of the 'toboggan' hill of -toys was
'won by Roy Daer. The winner of the
Christmas cake was Mrs. Thomas Haggitt.

Children's Christmas Party was held Dec. 9
at the Women's Institute Hall.
Approximately 75 children enjoyed a pup-
pet show, a visit from Santa and
refreshments.
This past month the Ladies Club have
donated $100.00 and a . istmas donation
box to the Huron CountyChildren's Family
Services at Goderich.
They have also organized a shopping bus
trip to Kitchener, assisted with the Belgrave
Brownies club Annual Bake Sale and also
purcha$ed new sweaters and socks for the.

Smocking. Workshop '
The Ontario Ministryof Agriculture and
Food is sponsoring a Smocking Workshop.
The first session will be held Thursday, Jan.
17 at 7:00 p.m. in tkle Wawanosh Public
School.
