Bibles bound for Russia
A Russian truck loaded with 10,000 Bibles
left Stuttgart November 27 bound for
Moscow, thanks to the efforts of the United
Bible Societies (UBS).
The 12.5 ton truck belonging to the state-
run Soviet transport company `sovtrans'
came from Minsk in White Russia to collect
the Bibles which have been printed at the
Stuttgart printing press of the German Bible
Society. The Bibles should be in the hands of
Russian, Christians by now. The Russian
Baptist Church organization, the All-Upion
Council of Evangelical Christians -Baptists
(AUCECB), has an official import permit
for the books.
As the Russian winter begins, there is
already snow on -the ground in Moscow and
the temperature is -5 degrees centigrade.
Russian Christians are expected to give the
Bibles a warm welcome, however, as they
_receive them before Christmas. The cost of
producing and transporting the Bibles has
been largely met by donations from Bible
Society supporters. '
