Steve Bromley scored twice for Blyth Inn and Paul Cook, Gary Hakkers, Larry Robinson and Kurt Whitfield had singles. In the last game both defences left the ice as Watsons outscored Radfords 13-9. Watsons got hat -tricks from John Watson, Steve Nixon and Jeff Watson, Mike Malloit ad1ed two goals and Brian Westberg and Rik Elliott closed the scoring. Darryl Youngblut scored four for Radfords, Larry Howatt and Doug McClinchey each added two and Ken Ritchie tallied one. Londesboro ladies didn't waste any time at Pioneer Days, held recently at Hullett Cen- tral School. At then quilting display, the ladies completed work on this covering. (Shelley McPhee photo) Agnes McBurney earns Ontario honor By Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse BELGRAVE - Congratulations to Agnes McBurney of East Wawanosh Township, who was the recipient of one of the 1984 bicentennial medals presented by the On- tario Government in honor of Bicentennial year. Mrs. McBurney received her medal for extraordinary community service at a ceremony in the Seaforth and District Com- munity Centre on Sunday. 'Belgrave is proud to have such a worthy celebrity in' the community. Couple honored A large crowd of well wishers attended a social evening for Murray and Joan James in theBelgrave WI Hall on Dec. 7. Twenty tables of euchre were played and prises were given to, high lady, Mrs. Alvin 'Higgins; low lady, Mss. Jim unter, high raii, Bob Higgins; low man, Don 'Procter. Dancing followed the euchre and prizes were given to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanna and Jim Hunter and Mrs. Alex Nethery for Spot dance winners. Dave McIntosh congratulated Joan and Murray on their recent marriage. Gifts and a box of money were presented by Donna Higgins on behalf of friends and neighbours. The December meeting of the Belgrave WMS was held at the home of Mrs. Hebo Siertsema on Dec. 4. Mrs. Joe Dunbar opened with the call to worship and scripture ,was read by Ivy Cloakey. Rev. and ,Mrs. Victor Jamieson were special guests. Rev. Jamieson gave a Christmas . message saying for the true meaning of Christmas we should include those who are alone or in need. Mrs. John McBurney • read a poem. Mrs. Nicholson and Mrs. Cloakey were nominated for a program committee. Mrs. William Dalrymple gave two readings, Mrs. Siertsema read a poem and Mrs. Youngblut read a story of a Christmas. concert that took place years ago.. 4-H club year ends Members of the Blyth-Belgrave 4-H "Beef Calf Club completed another successful year at the Huron County 4-H Awards night in Clinton on Nov. 30. Patil Coultes won the J.A. Anstett award for the highest score in Beef Clubs. Jeff Scott was awarded the CIL trophy for highest scoring in Swine judging at the judg- ing competition. Taking top honors in Sec- tion 1. at the Huron County Beef Champion- ship Show at Seaforth were: first, Paul Coultes, $200; second, Lisa Thompson, $175; third, Steven Coultes, $50; fourth, Robert Gordon $25. Prizes in above section were awarded from the Stan Jackson Memorial Fund. The Blyth-Belgrave Beef Club also won the R.J. Bolton and Sons trophy for cham- pionship corn exhibits in Huron County at the Seaforth Junior Fair. They also won a 20 pound turkey donated°by the Huron County 4-H Club Leaders Association. There will be euchre Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. This will be the final euchre for 1984. Euchrewill commence Jan. 9 Edgar Christmas Over 40 Edgar relatives gathered at the WI Hall; Belgrave on Dec. 8 for'their annual Christmas. Following the smorgasbord dinner everyone enjoyed a sing -song of Christmas carols. Santa arrived to help unload the tree for the children and adults. Master of ceremonies was Sunday School Superintendent Martin Baan. The first number was a recitation by the pre-primary children, Neil Saur, Shannon Davies, Colleen McCallum, Leanne McDonald, Chad McCallum, Randy Linton, Amanda Workman, , Valerie Collins and Ellen Workman. Tonia McClure played a piano solo, as did Nancy Godkin. Mrs. Gloria Love conducted the Wondrous Workshop of Candy Cane Lane, performed by pre-primary and primary classes. Blaine Marks played a violin solo and Sherry Hoegy played a piano number. The primary class performed a skit. Those taking part included Kipp Weisbrod, Sharon Godkin, Shannon Craig, Lorainne McClure, Chris Stevenson and Cindy Mc- Callum. The primary class members include, Lorainne McClure, Shannon Craig, Sharon Godkin, Cindy McCallum, Kipp and Allan Weisebrod, Patricia Clark, Chris Saur,, Chris Davies, Joe Wood, Chris Stevenson, Stacey Linton, Stefan Nichol, Colleen Col- lins, Andrea and Lisa Gingrich. Lorainne McClinchey played the piano. Sharon Godkin, Cindy McCallum, Lorraine McClure, Allan Weisbrod and Neil Saur sang a Christmas tune, accompanied on the piano by Glenda Carter. Heather McGavin then played a piano solo. The junior class, under the direction of Helen Craig, performed the skit - We Didn't Forget Anyone. Takingpart were Danny Taylor, Brian Love, Randy McClure, Kelly Workman, Tonia McClure, Susan Carter, Michael Craig, Greg Clark, Angie Wood and Greg Fritz. Piano solos were played by Glenda Carter and Shannon Craig. The senior class presented their play - Wanted: A Housekeeper. Performers in- cluded Steve Fritz, Manny Taylor, Ron Stevenson, Sherry Hoegy, Heather McGavin, Jim Clark, Nancy Godkin, Glenda Carter, Amy Workman and teacher Marie McGavin. Sharon Godkin and Susan Carter each played festive piano solos and the Sunday School Chorus joined to sing Christmas hymns, accompanied by guitarist Gloria Love. At last, Santa Claus arrived and treated all the children to candy. United news The second Advent service and Bible Sun- day were celebrated at Duff's United Church on Dec. 9. Roy and Kathleen Williamson greeted the congregation and the ushers were Barry Hoegy, Keith Wilbee and Graeme Craig. Pianist was Elva Wilbee. Rev. Charles A. Swan led the service: Coming • events were announced in- cluding: - White Gift Sunday, Dec. 16, with donations being made to the Huron Christmas Bureau. - Community Service, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. The offering will be given to the African Famine `Relief Fund. - Christmas Eve Service, Dec. 24 at 8 p.m. UCW meet Doreen Hackwell played carols prior to supper for the Walton UCW Christmas meeting. About 25 ladies attended. Following supper the meeting was held. Viola Kirkby led the devotions. Readers were Annie Reid, Phyllis Mitchell, Olene Dennis and Marjory Fraser. Gloria Wilbee contributed a solo with guitar accompaniment. Plans were made for the lunch, to.be serv- ed following the Community Service on Dec. 16. News and notes Helen Williamson and Isabelle Shortreed enjoyed a bus trip on Dec. 3 to view the Christmas lights and display at Cullen Gardens, near Whitby. The Walton Area Sports Committee an- nual meeting was held Dec. 3. New commit- tee membes were named, including, Carol Humphries, Joanne McDonald, Judy Lee, Karen Hoegy, Bruce Clark, Steve Noble and Marg Taylor. The Poker Rally date was set for Feb. 3. Booksale, a big success LONDESBORO - On December 5, Hullett Central School held its third annual booksale. This gave the students an oppor- tunity to buy good quality books at cheap prices. It was a big success. On December 7, there was an assembly. Students read their letter3that were return- ed from the balloons. Mr. MacLennan read some thank -you letters that the school received after Pioneer Days. Students also saw a video tane taken during the Pioneer BLYTH CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH Rev.
