The installing master was Right Worshipful Brother Clare Vincent. The 1985 officers include: Worshipful Master Worshipful Brother (WB) Alan Caldwell; Immediate Past Master WB William Vincent; Senior Warden WB Murray Nesbitt; Junior Warden WB Victor Stackhouse; Chaplain WB Allen Shaddick; Treasurer/ WB Gordon Shobbrook; Secretary WB Jack Lee; Senior Deacon WB David Lee; Junior Deacoh WB Bert Lyon; DofC WB Clare Vincent; IG WB Robert Anderson; SS WB Robert Thompson; JS WB Kenneth Armstrong; Tyler WB Allan Busman; Historian WB William Leiper; Auditors WB William Vincent and WB Harry Tebbutt. White Gift Sunday At the Londesboro United Church on Dec. 2 the White Gift Service was held. Rev. Dave Snihur and Marlene Armstrong greeted the congregation. Ushers were Larry Gross, Larry Hoggart, Russell Nesbitt and Robert Radford. The service also marked the first Sunday in Advent and a candle on the Advent Wreath was lit by Mnrray Howatt and family. The junior choir led in the music, with Lisa Duizer as organist. Gail Lear played the piano and Marsha Susz led the choir. Sunday School members gave the Christmas message, the story about Joseph and Mary at the manager. Students took part as angels, shepherds, and some read the scripture. The offering of gifts and food and cash donations for the Huron County Family and Children's Services was made as each member of the congregation presented their gift. Rev, Snihur announced that the poinsettia at the front of the church was placed in memory of Harry Watkins, by his wife Hazel and family. This Sunday, December9, the Messengers will meet and in the afternoon an open hous will be held at the Snihiur's. Everyone is invited to the manse for a cup of tea and Christmas goodies. Uniteds observe Advent Sunday The congregational pot luck dinner will be held on Dec. 16. As well, on Dec. 16, a community service will be held in Walton at 7:30 p.m. Happy Gang Seniors - Forty members of the Happy Gang Senior Citizens Club enjoyed a hot turkey dinner, served on Nov. 28. Presidept Lorne flunking conducted the business Portion of the meeting. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Stella Adams, followed bk the financial report, given by Treasurer Margaret Taylor. Members approved a $100 donation to the township recreation committee. It was agreed to cancel the December meeting. The next gathering will be held on January 31. Ten games of cards were played and the winners were: ladies' high, Vi Howes; lone hands, Margaret Taylor; low, Hazel Watkins; men's high, Jim McEwing; lone hands, Ted Fothergill; low, Emerson Hesk. Two draws donated by Clara Riley and George Smith were won by Stella Adams and Kay Konarski. Explorers meet Kim Salverda and Joanne Wilts opened the Nov..30 Explorers' meeting. Sara Lyons was in' charge of the Explorer picture. Yvonne Hoggart read a story. For crafts, the girls made wreaths out of beads. They 'also played two games. - reported by Denise Gross. By Betty McCall WALTON - Communion Sunday was held at Duff's United Church on Dec. 2. A candle was lit to observe the first Sunday of Advent. Rev. Charles Swan was in charge of the service. The • organist was Marjory Humphries. Ushers were Barry Hoegy, Keith Wilbee and Graeme Craig. The communion bread and wine were served by Edith Wey, Bruce Clark, Ken McDonald, Emerson Mitchell, Barry Iloegy, Neil McGavin and Graeme Craig. The monthly unified board meeting was held at the home of Don and Marilyn McDonald on Nov. 26. The UCW general meeting will be held tonight, Dec. 3, beginning with a pot luck • supper at 6:30 p.m. • The Walton I UCW Unit Christmas meeting .will be held at the church on Wednesday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m. Dates to remember are the Sunday School Concert, on Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. and the community service at Duff's United Church. A Christmas Eve service will also be held on Dec. 24. The UCW Christmas meeting will be held on December 10 at 6:30 p.m., featuring a pot luck luncheon. Each member is asked to bring a friend. A silent auction will also be held and organizers are hoping for the good turn out at the party. Miss Edythe Beacom returned home on Saturday after spending five weeks in the South Pacific, on a tour with the Superannuated Teachers of Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carter and Colleen spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Carter in Simcoe. ARC Insdustries in Dashwood is holding their Christmas Bazaar on December 7. and 8 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson and Clara Riley attended the Bluewater Blind Club Clistmas dinner, held on December 1 in Seaforth. Mr. and Mrs. Bev Jewitt, Craig, Trent and Lindsey of Lindon spent the weekend with her parentso Mr. and Mrs. Jack Snell. Mrs. Ross Millson and Sheryl of Woodstock spent Saturday night with her mother Dora Shobbrook. They attended a shower on Sunday for granddaughter Dora Lynn Garrow, at the home of Vicki Colquhoun in Clinton. Also attending were Darlene and Diana Shobbrook, Kay Saundercock, Joy Vodden, Bev and Vicki Lou Riley and Olive Penfound. The Lions Club sponsored a Grey Cup draw featuring $1,000 as grand prize. John'Semple won the prize and received it on Nov. 26 from Red Garon who sold the winning ticket and Lions President Murray East. The club sold' 2,530 tickets.
