annual bazaar
CLINTON - The annual Morning Market
at Wesley -Willis United Church will be tak-
ing place this Saturday, November 3, from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be three new areas for this
year's bazaar - an Ice Cream Parlor, a scars
booth and one called Apple Pan Dowdy,
which will involve anything to do with ap-
ples.
As usual, there will be baked goods,
garden produce, delicatessen foods, hand-
crafts and Christmas articles. There are.
always lots of articles available at the flea
market, while the silent auction offers
pieces of china 'and other collectibles.
Children will enjoy the Kiddies Korner, with
craft items, a fish pond and a puppet show.
The Tea Room will be open at 10 a.m. to
provide muffins and a beverage, or a lun-
cheon consisting of a sandwich plate, pie
and beverage. There's no need for anyone to
go away hungry!
The Morning Glories will have copies of
their new recipe book available, called
"Festive Favourites". It contains the holi-
day favorites of many of UCW members. •
Everyone is invited to .come and enjoy
themselves at the Wesley -Willis Morning
Market, this Saturday, November 3. '

Early files - Rabies bait tested in 1979

Both the federal and provincial govern-
ments have said they will get involved in the
Steven Truscott case following last week's
release of a new book on the murder case
that has brought notoriety to the Clinton
area.
And meanwhile in Clinton, area people
are split on their opinion of reopening the 20 -
year -old case of Truscott, now -34, who was
14 years old when he was convicts of the
murder and rape of 12 -year-old Lynn
Harper near the former CFB Clinton, now
Vanastra.
Prime Minister Joe Clark said Monday he
will ask the justice department whether the
government should or could reopen the
murder conviction of Truscott.

In order to develop methods for controll-
ing rabies in Ontario wildlife the Ministry of
Natural Resources is continuing a pilot pro-
gram again this fall which was first initiated
in 1972 to test a new type of bait material on
wild foxes.
At a news conference Thursday at the
Hullett Wildlife Park located two miles east
of Clinton a team from the Fish and Wildlife
Research Branch at Maple demonstrated
the method used to place the bait.
The new baits consist of a small chunk of a
sugar -gelatin -like mixture inside a small
plastic bag.
Dave Johnston of Maple said the baits also
contain a small amount of a biological
marking agent called tetracycline. This is
an antibiotic commonly used in human and
veterinary medicine for controlling
bacterial infegtiona and is not harmful to
animals or humans.

From among eight applicants for the•ob
of vice-principal at Clinton District Col-
legiate Institute received by the board,
David John Cochrane, RR 1, Erindale, has
been hired for the position.
"Butter is not high Priced,,, commented
Gordon Richardson, Brucefield, at the an-
nual meeting of the Huron County Cream
Producers held in the town hall, Clinton, last
Friday night. "Actually," said Mr. Richard-
son, "butter is much cheaper than it was 20
years ago, when compared with the amount
of butter which can be bought with an hour's
labor. An hour of labor today will buy nearly
twice as much butter as it would even 10
years ago."

A good house greeted the Carolina Singers
when they appeared in Ontario Street
Church on Monday evening under the
auspices of the Young Peoples' League. And
those attending were not disappointed as
they put on an excellent program.
The program was a varied one, choruses,
quartettes, solos, piano numbers and
readings being presented during the even-
ing and each one being enjoyed by the au-
dience.
Liberals of the new Huron -Perth federal
constituency held a joint organization and
nominating convention in Hensall last
Wednesday and unanimously named
William H. Golding, Seaforth, present MP
for South Huron, to be their candidate in the
federal general election.
There was no suggestion of any opposltien
to Mr. Golding, who scored such a notable
victory in the by-election in October, 1932,
and he was acclaimed as the ideal member.

In speaking with one of the proprietors of
the Electric Light Plant, he states that abc
houses have been wired and new lights have
been placed therein during the past month
and two orders yet to fill. There are in the
neighborhood of 4,000 lights in Clinton and
they can accommodate a lot more.
Mr. H. Bartliff will in a few days have a
new, up-to-date bread wagon in commis-
sion. It is modern in design, very attractive
and will help advertise Harry's business.
It is said a discovery has been made by
medical science that Limburger cheese will
drive out cancer. Although not posing as an
expert we do not doubt the statement as our
belief is the good heavy draft Limburger
will chase ost anything out, even out of
doors.

Recently, a sow belonging to Mr. W. Weir,
of the Bayfield Road, dropped a litter of
pigs, which were taken away from it. Short-
ly after, it was found that the cows were be-
ing milked, but by whom or what was not
known, until one day the sow was found
sucking a cow, and had already drained the
udders of 13 more. This may seem hard to
believe; yet it is vouched for on the best of
authority.
When Mr. Searle's buildings are com-
pleted, Clinton will be able to boast of hav-
ing the finest continuous row of brick
buildings to be found in the county,
