Quilting will be
featured at the
town hall display
CLINTON - Quilters with the Ontario
Street UCW will take part in the Arts and
Crafts Day, to be held in conjunction with
the Clinton Town Hall Re -opening
ceremonies.
The craft display, to be held on October 29,
will feature the quilters at work. The quilt,
donated by Leila Johnston, will be for sale
when completed.
The October 9 meeting of the UCW
featured guest speakers Ross and Mildred
'Merrill who recounted their journey to the
Yukon. Through slides and commentary the
Merrills gave an account of their trip to
Canada's north. The special guests were
introduced by Roberta Plumsteel.
The meeting also featured a musical
interlude, with Sheehan and Dan Carter
playing in harmony, selections from Bach.
President Helen Aiken read a poem and
devotions were given ,by Ann Levis and
Cheryl Trewartha.

CLINTON - The Kinettes celebrated their
32nd anniversary at Hessenland in St.
Joseph's on October 9. Special guests for the
evening were Zone Co-ordinator Wanda`
Reynolds, Exeter .President . Phyllis
Humphreys and 11 Clinton K-ettes.
The highlight of the evening was the
initiation of the club's newest members,
Judy Turner -and Mary Wood. Also, Mary
Ann Chambers, Joyce Jenkins and Wendy
McFarlan were recipients of the Maple Leaf
Award.
The Kinettes donated $50 to the Clinton •
BIA. This 'will go towards the Childrens'
Christmas Party on December 8.
Grey Cup Day is quickly approaching. A
pot luck and social is being planned for•
November 25.
A Chinese Auction followed the dinner
meeting. Boxes of 'all sizes, shapes and
colors made everyone's choice very difficult
for bidding. Salad tongs, plush fabric
pumpkins and many more items too
numerous to mention were auctioned off by
Honorary Kinette Sue Vodden. All proceeds
of the auction will go towards the Mystery
Tour in June 1985.
The fall leadership conference will be held
in Brantford on October 27 and 28. Six
Clinton couples will attend.
The next executive meeting will be held on
October 30 at Mary Ann Chambers home.
Joyce Jenkins will host the November
general meeting.
