46. In memoriam
O'CONNELL
In loving memory of a dear dad and grandpa who
passed away October 9, 1980:
Memories are treasures no one can steal,
Your death left a heartache no one can heal,
Some may have forgotten you now you have
gone,
But we still remember no matter how long.
You left us quietly, your thoughts unknown,
But left us with memories we are proud to own,
So treasure him Lord in your garden of rest,
Because to us, he was one of the best.
Always remembered by Larry, Keith, June,
Shirley, Darryl, Don, Donna, Jennifer , and
Monica. -41

Cold cancels school
October 10, 1974
School is back in full swing at Clinton
Public this week after the pupils missed
several days during the last two weeks
because there vt)asn't any heat on at the
school. Altogether, only five days were
missed because the teachers took 1'!2 days
off for Professional Development. Some
extra -curricular activities, will have to be
cancelled to make up for the missed day,
but principal Al Taylor says the students
won't lose any of their regular holidays to
make up for lost time.

Troubles did not come singly to Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Vodden over the few days.
Major difficulty came when Roy fell through
the floor while working in his father's barn
and injured his back badly. He has since
been m Clinton Public Hospital where he
was placed in a body cast, and is now fairly
comfortable.
Then over the weekend the family cottage
south of Bayfield near Drysdale, burned one
night. No reason has been established for
the fire.
Mrs. Vodden and the children were coping
with the farm work until neighbors came to
their aid, and as well operating their
general store in Summerhill.
The Clinton Ho&pital Auxiliary presented
a gift on Tuesday night to Mrs. E. Radfort,
the retiring house mother of the Nurse's
Residence, in appreciation of her services
there. Mrs. Harry Ball made the
presentation addresses, commenting on the
fact that Mrs. Radford had filled this
position since the nurse's residence was
built.
Mrs. Duff Thompson reported for the
penny sale, that $723.78 has been realized on
Saturday. She thanked all who helped,

During the Sunday morning service in the
United church at St. Marys, thieves entered
the- home of the pastor, Rev. J.A. Agnew,
formerly of Clinton, and made their escape
with about . The boldness of the thieves
caused some comment as the parsonage is
situated right alongside the church and
there are residences on all sides.
The front door of the parsonage had not
been locked and it is supposed that the
thieves made their entrance by this means.
The whole house had been ransacked but as
far as could be learned only the money had
been taken.
Detroit Tigers were very busy winning
their world series game in St. Louis on
Saturday by a score of 10-4, but that was
nothing to many enthusiastic fans who
watched Clinton doing almost exactly the
same thing in the final with Staffa in the
Huron Perth Intercounty League and
winning the championship withthe
substantial margin of five runs in a 10-5
score.

The first shipments of hydrants for the
fire protection on the new waterworks
system arrived on Tuesday of this week.
On Friday last a meeting of
representatives of the counties of Huron,
Middlesex and Lambton was held at the
Sauble River, at the junction of the three
counties to consider the advisability of
erecting a bridge, at that point. The
engineers estimated that it would cost about
$4,000 to erect a bridge 100 feet long and
although the Middlesex and Lambton
representatives were in favour of building a
bridge, each county to share in the cost the
Huron committee did not fall in with the pro-
posal and will so report to the county council
of Huron.

to the abominable stench arising therefrom.
