Hunters aided by many products
Hoppe's No. 9. If you are a shooter or a
hunter, then I don't have to say any more.
You know exactly what I'm talking about.
At least as far as the famous No. 9 Solvent is
concerned. There isn't a shooter or gun en-
thusiast who hasn't come in contact with
that familiar brown bottle with the yellow
and red label. Hoppe's No. 9 Solvent and
Hoppe's Lubricating Oil are equally promi-
nent on every "firing line". But the fame of
these fine products causes them a problem.
More than a few outdoorsmen are not clued
in on the fact that Hoppe's also manufac-
tures a long list of products they's like to
know about.
For instance: The best Moisture Displac-
ing Lubricant on the market - MDL, a full
line of top quality gun and equipment cases
under the PROTECT° label, Stock Finish
and Gun Blue Kits, some of the slickest
Bench Rest Stands for rifle and pistol
shooting yet made - with leather bags to
match, a full line of black powder cleaning
items, Ear Protectors, Clay Target
Throwers, cleaning rods and brushers of all
descriptions and the most useful gun clean-
ing kits yet designed, a handsome line of
Wall Hangers for guns, bows and other out-
door gear and even a trio of Ethan Allen
Black Powder Pistols...and a whole lot
more.
For a catalogue of their complete product
line, write Penguine Industries, Inc., Air-
port Industrial Mall, CoaLesville, Pa. 19320.
Yes, the draw for the Huron County Deer
Hunt has been done, and the validation tags
mailed out. Most people were receiving
them in the mail on Friday or Saturday, so if
you haven't got yours, I guess you'll have to
plan on going north. Remember. the check
stations will be set out at the same places, so
if you get one, bring it around. .Don't forget
to send in you 1984 Controlled Deer Hunt
Mandatory Report. If you don't, you will be
automatically eliminated from next year's
draw. It has to be back to the District Office
by November 22. As an added incentive,
there will be a draw for an ithaca
Deerslayer Shotgun after the retuns are in.
Be eligible and get yours back in time.
With the deer season opening just around
the corner in every county, thousands of
huntersare faced with the big problem of
what they do after they down a deer. The
problem is really solved if they view the new
VHS or Beta tape put out by Joe DeFalco
called The Hunter's Guide to Field dressing,
Skinning and Butchering your Deer.
Joe, the author of the best selling book The
Complete Deer Hunt, which sold over 1.5 -
million copies, was a butcher and a food ex-
pert for the U.S. Army. His expertise was
written up in newspapers all over the coun-
try, and he is the only hunter in the world
that Sports Illustrated ever did a six-page
feature story about. The Outdoor Life Book
Club, twice, used the feature story about Joe
on how to field dress skin, and butcher a
deer.
I have viewed this tape and found it to be
excellent. It takes the hunter, step by step,
through the procedures to follow from the
moment the deer hits the ground till you're
packing those steaks and roasts away in the
freezer. One of the things I enjoyed was the
demonstration of hot to cut roasts and
steaks properly, without using specialized
butcher's tools. One half of the deer was but-
chered the way it would be done in a com-
mercial shop, and then the other half was
done completely by hand.
If you are interested, the tape can be pur-
chased for $52.95 U.S. ($49.95 plus $3.00 ship-
ping and handling) from Hunter's Guide,
P.O.. Box 1089, North Baldwin, New York,
11510-1089. Be sure to ask for Joe DeFalco's
"Field. Dressing, Skinning, and Butchering
Your Deer", and specify if you want it in
VHS or Beta.
