services held at
United Church

Thanksgiving services were held on Sun-
day at Brucefield United Church with,
Pastor Don Moffat in charge.
This Sunday, October 14, anniversary ser-
vices will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul
Murray of Bayfield speaking.
Visiting at the Brucefield Manse on the
weekend were Mr. and Mrs. C. Moffat of
Sombra, their son and family.
Sharon Pine and children of Brampton
spent the weekend with Grace McBride.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter McLaughlin of Toron-

Ross Scott.
Betty Boyce of Toronto visited for a few
days with Alice Ham.
Bob Dalrymple has returned from Strat-
ford hospital, having undergone surgery.

Huronic Rebekah Lodge in Clinton
represented District 23 when she visited the
Amber Rebekah Lodge in Hensall and in-
stalled the officers for the ensuing term.
Noble Grand Marg Upshall presided
assisted by Vice Grand Eunice Aikenhead.
Mary Sutter of Clinton read the commis-
sion and solist Cleta Holland sang.

Unit 3 of Hensall UCW met with Marg Up -

United News
The United Church was filled on Sunday
morning as the congregation celebrated
World Wide Communion along ° with
Thanksgiving Service. • Gary Kyle greeted
the congregation and Bill Fuss, Harold Par-
sons, Ken McLean and Hans Gerstenkorn
were the ushers.
Rev. Stan McDonald spoke on
"Thanksgiving Unlimited". He stressed
how people need to surrender life's .situa-
tions over to God's will. "A surrendered
heart is a thankful heart", he said.
The Junior Choir led the congregation in
music by singing two Thanksgiving An-
thems. Mr. McDonald directed the choir
with Belva Fuss at the organ.

Women.
The congregation was reminded that Bi-
ble Study would be changed from Friday
morning to Thursday morning each week
and that the Official Board would meet on
Thursday evening.
Rev. McDonald, assisted by District
Elder Dorothy Brintnell conducted commu-
nion service at the Bluewater Rest Home on
Thursday morning.
There was a good attendance at the
regular weekly Bible study on Friday morn-
ing at the United Church when the group
began their study of "Questions That Jesus
Asked". The Bible study will continue each
week on Thursday morning in place of•the
regular Friday morning session.
Rev. McDonald was dinner guest at the
home of Elsie Shaddick of Londesboro on
Wednesday evening and also attended the
80th birthday party for Mrs. Laura Lyon
also of Londesboro.
Communion service
Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted cominu-
nion service in Carmel Presbyterian Church •
on Sunday with Dorothy,Taylor presiding at
the.organ. Carolyne Love played the. organ
during the offertory. The sanctuary was
decorated for Thanksgiving.
The annual bazaar will be held November.

members and 12 guests present
Gloria Mousseau led the worship, opening
with responsive reading. Jean Snell read the
scripture. Florence Hyde gave. a reading.
Margaret Hoggarth introduced the guest
speaker Jo Anne Dumey from Exeter Coun-
try Flowers. Jo -Anne showed how to put
together a Thanksgiving arrangement dope
in a six quart basket. Dorothy Taylor thank-
ed her. A draw was made for the arrange-
ment and Erline Stewart was the lucky win-
ner.
A short business meeting followed with a
reminder of the Bazaar November 3 at 2
p.m. -
Winnie Skea and Cathy Bellwill decorated
the church for Thanksgiving. The next
meeting is at the Bean Pot in Hensall' at 7
p.m. for supper followed by business in the
church basement.

surgery in Victoria Hospital, London. She
spent a few days with her daughter and Bon-
in -law' Mr. and Mrs. Dan O'Neill and
Christie. .
Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol spent
