men struggle for rights in Korea
By Sheron Stadelmann
The Onward Unit of the UCW met on
Qctober 2 With mixed feelings: gloomy,
beeause of low attendance - nine in all;
Joyous, after the worship service got under
way, conducted by Nick Aitken and Ferne
McDowell.
The Thanksgiving sentiments expressed
in prayers, hymns, scriptures and medita-
tion were uplifting and the roll call was
answered by what each was thankful for.
Mary Campbell gave a thought-provoking
account of ' poor working conditions in
Korea, especially of women in textile
industries, their struggle to improve them
and the part the women played in the
formation of Trade Unions.
One lady, thrust into jail for defying the
law, studied the Scripture while there, and
by so doing realized she was on the right
track. On her release, without fear, she
worked successfully for women workers'
rights.
Marjorie East gave the treasurer's
report. Leader Evelyn Smith outlined plans
for the Bonanza in November - used clothing
sale on November 7, 8 and 9, and the bazaar
and continued sale of shoes and children's
wear on the 10th.
She also spoke about the Thankofferina
service next Sunday, October 14 at 8 p.m.,
when Kim Crawford of Waterloo will relate
a few of her experiences in Australia where
she spent last year. Kim is still a teenager.

4-H'ers study aerobics

Liberation in the
classroom
Grades 7 and 8 students at Seaforth and
Goderich schools now have access to both
family studies and industrial arts.
While technically not new, superintendent
of program Arnold Mathers said female
students now take industrial arts and male
students takd family studies. And that is
new.
He said that previously students had no
choice because they took the subjects as a
class - either of boys•or girls.
Now, he said the students, in a co-ed en-
vironment, take one subject for half a year
and the other for the rest of the year.
The integration comes about as a result of
the revamping of the Grades 7 to 12 educa-
tion system in the document known as OSIS -
Ontario Schools, Intermediate and Senior.
- Elementary schools in Wingham, Exeter
and Clinton don't have industrial arts and
family study facilities.

his first charge in Blyth. He was ordained
last Sunday at the Blyth Christian Reformed
Church with several area ministers and

Several years of city life has the family
facing an adjustment to the easier pace of a
small town,, "It seems to be friendlier," said
Carolyn. "People know each other better,
the community is a little closer:" In addi-
tion, the congregation of 82 families is
almost completely made up of farmers.

Church
displays fall
splendor
By Sheron Stadelmann
A special Thanksgiving Service was held
last Sunday at the Blyth United Church with
the Rev. Ken Bauman in charge. Adeline
Campbell sang accompanied by the church
organist Mrs. Margaret Kai.
During the Thanksgiving message Rev.
Bauman pointed out the many blessings for
which people should be thankful. All the
children of the congregation took part in the
special mission project of giving gifts to the
needy women and children in Huron County.
The greeters in the Narthex were
Margorie MeNall and John Sanderson.
