to assist member companies explore new
export opportunities with minimal cost and
risk. Covering more territory than any in-
dividual company could possibly cover on

lookout for sales leads overseas through
trade missions, international trade shows
and personal contact with foreign govern-
ment offices, .development banks and other
sources.
To ensure. no time is lost in making
member companies aware of export oppor-
tunities as they arise, each sales lead is in-
stantly telexed back to the AGREXO office
in Canada where it is immediately relayed
to the appropriate member companies.

leads, AGREXO untangles the intricacies of
export marketing ... providing assistance in

forming members of incoming trade delega-
tions. Members are also encouraged to com-
bine their resources with other members to
form a consortium or group approach to
overseas markets.
AGREXO is in the process of publishing a
comprehensive catalogue describing the
products and services of member firms.
Each member firm will have equal
representation in the catalogue. This
catalogue will be continually up -dated and
distributed to Canadian Embassies around
the world, Ontario government offices in
foreign countries, as well as international
trade shows, missions and foreign govern-
ment purchasing agencies.
To keep members on top of foreign
markets and informed of changes in govern-

Food celebrations to be held in October
TEVIOTDALE - October has been named
' Agri -Food Month and will be the focus of a
number of food -related celebrations in On-
tario, Agriculture and Food Minister Dennis
Timbrell announced at the International
Plowing Match.
The October celebrations are co-
sponsored by the Ontario Federation of
Agriculture and several producer boards in
co-operation with the ministry.
As part of the province's Bicentennial,
Agri -Food Month will "underline the key
role that agriculture plays in the economic
life of this province — as it has done for over
200 years," Mr. Timbrell said.
The month will feature winery and farm
tours, a harvest festival at Toronto's Har-
bourfront October 7 and 8, and a Harvest
Home celebration at the Ontario
Agricultural Museum in Milton, October 7,
as well as the observance of World Food
Day, October 16.
The month will be launched at a special
ceremony, at noon on October 1 at Toronto's
College Park shopping complex.
"It's a month-long celebration with a
serious message — that the agriculture and
food industry puts food on the table in more
ways than one," Mr. Timbrell added. "It
means $12.6 billion a year to Ontario's
economy. It directly influences the
livelihood of one in five workers in the pro-
vince. It's number two in export sales — se-
cond only to cars and car parts."
Other features of Agri -Food Month will be
the launch of a picturebook, The Farm,
featuring photos by the pioneer farm
photographer Reuben Sallows Contrasted
with modern photos by John de Visser, and
screenings of the ministry's Bicentennial
film, "Proud Beginnings" which tells the
story of Ontario's 200 -year-old farms.
For the past two years, the ministry and
the Ontario Federation of Agriculture have
co-sponsored Agri -Food Week.
"This year, Agri -Food Month will have
the same objective — to heighten awareness
of the key role agriculture and the food in-
dustry play in our social and economic
life," Mr. Timbrell said.
