the new owner, worked at Baiton's for 13 years and has had a desire to go into business
for herself for the last few years. Mrs. van Vliet has merchandise ranging from 1928
jewellery to Cabbage Patch Kids- clothes. Although she is going to keep basically the

gregation, they occupied the centre front
pews to receive the message.
Two . scripture passages relating to the
deaths of Samson and Stephen were used. A
question and answer period revealed that
Samson's $i er uth was physicai and
Stephen's wa4s0i0_001.
UCW news
The Afternoon Unit of the UCW met on
September 11 with 12 members attending.
Mrs. Earl Anderson conducted the meeting.
Mrs. James Hunter reported on the Alma
College program she attended this summer.
She was there on an Ethel Child's scholar-
ship.
Mrs. William Fenton presented the study
on the Life for good people and Mrs. Walter
Scott was in charge of the worship session.
Ladies study town's past
SUMMERHILL - The monthly meeting of
Summerhill Ladies' Club was held on
September 12 at the home of Joanne Salver -
da.
President, • Lorna Ellis, opened the
meeting with an account of the town of Clin-
ton industries 100 years ago.
Seventeen members answered the roll
call by relating trips taken this past sum-
mer. A thank you card from Verna and Bill
Gibbings, who have moved to Clinton, was
read.
The Club will purchase a prize for the
Hospital Penny Sale. -

at the 119th Anniversary service at Duff's

Organist Mrs. Elva Wilbee accompanied
Mrs. Mildred Traviss and Mrs. Gail Moffatt
when they sang duets.
Greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Doug Fraser..
Ushers were Bruce Clark, Williarn Coutts
and Doug Fraser. Mrs. Marie McGavin read
the first scripture, Rev. Johnston the se-
cond. Graeme Craig contributed a solo with
guitar accompaniment. Helen Craig gave
courtesy remarks.

program, Joanne Salverda passed a
mystery can, the contents of which were
guessed correctly by Ruth Jenkins. Jane
Van Spengen gave a reading. On behalf of
Jean Vodden, Ruth Jenkins read two prize
winning essays.
The next meeting will be at the home of
Gladys Van Egmond on October 10, at 2:30
p.m.; program and lunch to be in charge of
Ali Westerhout, Sandra Westerhout, and
Margaret Wright. The roll call is to be
answered by telling how the member spent
Thanksgiving.
