Reunion era
By Anne Nare,Iko.
A craft show is a WelCiime attraction at
any event and, the Threshermen's Reunion .
is no exception. Exhibitors' -frons Owen
Sound, London, Sarnia, Kitchener and a
number of other cities will display -thein
work at the reunion on Saturday and Sun-
day.
The craft show was started' about 10 years
ago in the Agrieultural Hall. According to.
Annie 'MIirn s of .BIth,. who wan the, con-
venor up until laser year,t :show beganwto
WOW :and, was moved. to a isteel'shed: As
more and more eidiibitors came to display
their crafts, the .show was given one half of
the Blyth Arena floor. Last year, the show
took over the entire floor and this .year
organizers hope to attract 50 to' 60 ex-
hibitors.
The reason forlholding a craft show atthe
the lees
reunion is, "to give the ladies something of
interest," commented Mrs. McInnes. •
Joan HoUston, who hastaken, over as con-
venor, hat a .second reason as to why the
show wasihcluded intim reunion.
"The •women felt that 'if you've seen one.
engine, you've seen them all. %Ve had
nothing -to do., so we decided to do -our crafts.
Gradually we included anthers and it became
larger," she explained.
Among the ceramic: :.Misplays, Indian
crafts; quilting and precious, gems, .:there
will . be a weavin demonstration. Freshly
shaven .wool will dyed, woven and then
the finished garment will be displayed.
An added attraction for the. children will
be the clowns, Buttons and Bows: They will
be performing magic and puppet shows as
well as painting faces and making animal
balloons.
e. craft show willbe open on Saturday
from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 1
p.muntil the reunion is over,
The craft show has developed intoone of the highlights of the Thresher Reunion. Last
year the Community Centre was filled with a recond number of craft booths. Linda and
CindyVisser of Dublin, Julie Agar of Seaforth and Cindy Visser of Dublin studied the
many tables 'of handcrafted items. (Shelley McPhee photo)
