Over 260 attend the August Harris Reunion

The pm HAPIATPAQUiru00 was held August
11 and 12 at the Codette VeMorial Hall near
Nipawin, Saskatchewan°. There were 292
relatives present from the states of
• Washington, North Dakota and Minnesota
and the • provinces of British Columbia,
• Alberta, Saskatchewan. The 22 from Ontario
included the Lobb s from Clinton - Mervyns,
Harolds and Alvins, Mr. Cecil T. Collacott,
archivist of Bradworthy, Devon, England,
(the home of the Harris') who had done
research on the family and is a Harris
descendant himself also attended.
There were 16 large displays of photos,
documents, charts and artifacts which
portrayed the descendants and their lives.
On Saturday evening a banquet was
catered by the Codette Con9unity Club
Women.
During the business meeting.the Ontario
secretary,Nirs. Mervyn Lobb read a letter
from the Ontario Chairman, Bob Parbert,
who was unable to attend. He 'sent his
regards to all. Plans are being made for the
1986 Reunion to be held in the Mitchg area
and in 1988 at Estevan, Saskatchewan. -The
work of the corresponding-seCretary, Mrs.
Evelyn Bingham of Mitchell, was greatly
appreciated.
The evening's entertainment Included
-mouth organ selections by Leonard
Dilworth, Herbert, Saskatchewan,,and Ron
Harris, Lloydminster, Alberta., Mr. and
Mrs. Mervyn Lobb sang duets, Mrs. Nola
Andris, Nipawin, Saskatchewan, sang solos
accompanied by Mrs. Lois Roney of Dublin,
Ont. Howard Harris, Goderich, played
many old songs while ail sang; A dance and
lunch concluded the Saturday events.
On Sunday morning a family church
• service was held in ,.the- Codette Hall,
conducted by the chairman Mr. Ralph
Hohnes. He read the scripture. Mervyn
Lohll led in prayer and Mrs. Lola Andris
, a •
sang. A message was given by Rev. Ronald
Hooper of Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan.
After branch was served, group pictures
were taken and fond farewells said, Cousins
visited who had not met for years or never
before.
A well organized weekend by the Holmes'
and relatives was enjoyed by all and now we
are looking forward to 1986.
Fire damage totals 1,20,000
BELGRAVE - A $20,000 combine was
destroyed in a fire by Belgrave last week.
The fire department answered the call but
the combine was destroyed/ before they ar-
rived. The suspected cause of the fire is fric-
tion.

Lobbs meet for 26th time
HOLMESVILLE - The 26th annual Bert
Lobb Reunion was held on August 26 at the
Holmesville Public School.
An afternoon of sports was enjoyed by all,
led by Joe, Janet and Rhonda Lobb, and
Sharon Docking.
Following a pot luck meal, a brief meeting
was conducted by President Bill Docking.
After thanking the executive for their
assistance, including Len, Marie Lobb and
Joan and Kirk Lyndon, the new executive
was selected.
Burt and Hope Lobb will step up as presi-
lent and secretary. The sports committee
members will include Alison, Don, Roba and
Murray Lobb. Table committee members
are Ernie Lobb, Lloyd Crich and Elaine
Pym.
With the weather co-operating and 81
guests attending, the 1984 picnic was a suc-
cess.

Edward and Blanche' Deeves this past
week visited the Queensway Nursing Home
in Hensall, visiting with Asa Deeves. They
also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pot-
ter, who seem very happy for the visit and
are feeling pretty good and say hello to all.
The U.C.W. of Holmesville United will
meet September 11 in the Holmesville Chur-
ch.
