The Lake Huron Zone Recreation
Association Sportsfest '84 held in Kincardine
on August 17, 18, 19 proved to be an
enjoyable and successful event for Clinton
participants. Sportsfest is a major summer
intercornmunity event emphasizing fun,
participation and the development of
'recreational sports and games.
The success achieved by the Clinton
participants is secondary to thegood time
enjoyed by everyone. However, this success
should not go unrecognized. Clinton
residents should applaud those who
performed so admirably in the events.

Chuck Collins of Varna, will be using his
knowledge of his own track on September 3
in an atempt to fight off the challenge of
Pederson and the others.
At the Final Round of the Expert Na-
tionals, spectators can. also see the top
Senior and Schoolboy riders hit speeds of up
to 120 km/h and flying as much as 100 feet
through the air over Hully Gully's specially "
designed National Track.

Baler will put on a snowmobile on water
exhibition, keeping motorsport spectators
on their feet all .afternoon. Twenty-three-

year-old Balchin, who was the 1983 Cana-
dian and World Water Cross Champion, has
driven his 521cc 9700 Blizzard snowmobile
over 40 miles across open water. •
He was the 1983 Triple Crown Champion in
watercrossing. During one of the three
rounds held in Wolf Lake, Quebec he set the
world record of 46 miles.
For those who enjoy motorsports, Hully
Gully's Labour Day shows will be a must.

Attention Clinton and area residents! The
Recreation Office has been temporarily
located in the basement of the Clinton Public
Library. The office will be at this location
until the Town Hall offices are completed.

Fall Program
Plans are in the making for the Clinton
Fall Recreation Guide. This Brochure will
contain information on recreation
programs, arena schedule and events,
community groups and much more. If there
are any suggestions or ideas for recreation
programs please contact the Recreation
Director at 482-3398 as soon as possible.
Recreation programs will include Learn -to -
Skate, power skating, Trim -A -Size
(afternoon and evenings), youth
gymnastics, badminton, volleyball, music
lessons, first aid course,. youth theatre
events, Monday films, and more!!

The Clinton Arena will be opening
on
September 17. A Clinton 1984 / 85 Arena
Schedule and Special Event List will be
advertised in this newspaper and the Clinton
Fall Recreation Guide. Make sure you
receive your copy.
Central Huron Hockey School
The sixth Annual Central Huron Hockey
School is set for September 17-29 at the
Clinton Arena. Two six day (Monday to
Saturday) sessions for boys ages six to nine
and 10-14 years, limit 30 participants per
class, are now receiving registration.
Information is available by picking up a
Hockey School Brochure or by phoning the
Clinton Arena 482-7731, or the Recreation
Office 482-3398. Register early. Classes are
limited.
Pool News
The Clinton Swimming Pool will close to
the public on Sunday, September 2. The pool
staff thank all those people who made use of
the pool during the summer months. It was a
busy and enjoyable summer.. See you next
year.
