Rosary and prayers were recited by the Reverend Father Ed Dentinger, C.R., and members of the Kingsbridge C.W.L: on Sun- day, July 8. Memorial masses were celebrated in Calgary and at Kingsbridge'on Monday, Ju- ly 9. At the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 19th St., S.W., Calgary, Alberta, the Reverend Father Joseph Toole was celebrant. The eulogy was written. and read by Gerry O'Brien. Ralph Austin and Sarah Lynch did the readings. •At St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kingsbridge, Father Den- tinger, C.R. was celebrant. Readings were done by Betty Lou Dalton and Mia Dalton. H rpm were sung by Eugene.grayne and J hn VanRooy. Organist was Mrs.. , arianne•Hagan. Offering was taken up by Wayne's brothers, Gary, Eric, Floyd and Carl. Rosary was.led by Fred Courtney. . Itis the wish of the family that Wayne's body be located for burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Kingsbridge. • . Wayne Joseph Courtney; 97 Edgehill. Drive, N, W., Calgary, Alberta and formerly, -- of Kingsbridge, drowned on Sunday, July 1 in the Kicking Horse River, 10 kilometers east of Golden, British Columbia, when his kayak flipped, over. Born on August 1, 1955, he was 28 years old. His body has not been found. He is survived by his .parents, Joe and Teresa Courtney of R.R. 1, Dungannon; five brothers, Gary and his wife Chris of Blyth, Brian and his wife, Jeannette of Cochrane, Alberta, Eric of Mississauga, and Floyd and. Carl at home; four nephews and one niece. He was predeceased by a brother Joseph in 1958. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and attended elementary • school --tax Kingabridgep—Lie— ei ci-,424 Secondary School Graduation Diploma at the Goderich'District Collegiate Institute. He apprenticed as a carpenter with A. Manning and Sons, Blyth and with D.' & G. Construction, 'receiving his Advanced Carpentry Certificate at the -Mohawk Col- lege . of Applied Arts and Technclogy, Hamilton. ' • He went to Calgary and Banff, Alberta in. 1977 where he continued to work in the con- struction industry. He liked to travel, work= ing while touring for 19 months in the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia. Returning home for a short time, he then went back ,to Calgary in 1980 where he had been self-employed. He spent the past two. winters in Rossland, British Columbia. In spite of the intense heat,everyone enjoyed the suc- cessful day, and thank all the people involv- ed. 4 Huronview chapel service was held August 9. Mrs. M. Prouty who is the, leader of worship, led in the singing of hymns. A prayer time took place, followed by prayer requests from the residents. A funeral' was held on August 1 at the Tubman-Cummings Funeral Horne in North Gower. Rev. Robert Blair of North Gower United Church presided. Mr. Graham was laid to rest at Rideauvale Cemetery in Kars, Ontario. The funeral arrangements were en- trusted to the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton. Walter Matthew Westlake Walter Matthew Westlake of Bayfield died at the Clinton Public Hospital on July 28, at •the age of 85. The retired mechanic was predeceased by . his parents, Matthew Dart Westlake and Martha King. He was also predeceased. -by his 'wife; 'Pear) •"('Orel' Westlake:-'t•Mr:. Westlake owned a garage in Bayfield ff'orn 1924 to 1964. Hewes also a founding mernber of the Bayfield Volunteer Fire Department and was also the department's 'first Fire Chief,, a position that .he held proudly for many years. He was also a member of Trini- ty Anglican(Church, Bayfield., • . He is survived by two daughters; Lorna I Mrs. Merton Merner), Gloria ( Mrs. Bev McClinchey) both of Bayfield, and three sons; William and Garfield both of Delta B.C. and Lloyd of Bayfield. He is also st9r- vived by two sisters; Bertha (Mrs. John Turner) of Bayfield and Susie ( Mrs. Milton Pollock) of RAR. 1 Varna. A funeral was held on July 30 at the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Pitts of Trinity Anglican. Church presiding.. Mr. Westlake's four .grandsons Lorne Merner of London, Randy McClinchey of Bayfield and Paul and Richard Westlake both of London acted as pallbearers. Interment was in Bayfield LITTLE PEOPLE.
