work so low? Only the architect has the
answers."
Councillor. Hunter suggested setting up a
meeting with the, architect to discuss these
concerns.
He concluded, "We all want the same
thing. We all want the town hall to be well
used to the best of its ability and our
budget."
Mr. Wheeler agreed, emphasizing that the
town hall could be extensively used for a
number • of events, including displays,
professional workshops and seminars,
cultural events and general leisure
activities.
"We're really fighting to try and getthis,"
• he noted.
Councillor Gord Gerrits said he could
sympathize with the committee, "You're
trying to plan events but you don't know all
the physical elements of the building."
He suggested that the steering committee
members should be actively involved with
the building committee. (Presently
Councillor Ross Carter serves that role).
Council - encouraged the steering
committee to continue and Councillor
Hunter noted, "I'm very impressed with the
planning, the work, the ideas and the
enthusiasm. I'd really like to see you carry
on."
Council and -'steering committee members
agreed with Councillor Deeves' suggestion,
"Let's get the hall opened and then let's see
what we can do.. Don't start tearing things
out now. If we stare we'll still be sitting here
in November."
