Clinton News-Record, 1984-08-01, Page 25ompen Feest a success
cumoN - Record crowds and sunny skies
an refected on the financial success of the
1984 edition of Klompen Feest.
Many interesting stories had been written
previously about Clinton's Dutch Festival
. but the item, concerning the committee most
was the outcome from a financial point.
"As much as everyone enjoyed the
various forms of entertainment at the
Festival, they all cost money," Klompen
Feest Chairman Bob Campbell said. "It's
gratifying when all the expenses are paid
and there is still a small balance in the
bank."
The 1984 Klompen Feest was a success.
An interim statement has now been com-
pleted and after allowing for a few extra ex-
penses, there will be a small balance in a
contingency fund against the possibility of a
rainy day in 1985. The few extra expenses in
1985 include setting aside an ,allotment for
additional decorations, as well as paying for
one of the seats on the KLM draw prize trip
to Holland.
The winner of this year's KLM draw for
two seats to Holland on KLM Royal Dutch
Airlines was won by Mrs. Maurice Thibeault
of RR 5 Clinton. Mr. Campbell made the
presentation of the tickets to Nancy
Thibeault last week. The entire Klompen
Feest Committee wish Nancy and Maurice a
very happy holiday.
A letter was sent to Clinton Town Council
from the Klompen Feest, stating that the
financial situation was such that a part of
the Clinton Bicentennial Grant, approx-
imately $750, which was promised to the
Klompen Feest would not be required. It
was returned to the town.
Klompen Feest will be held in the
Community Park on Friday and Saturday
May 17 and 18.
All Committee Chairmen and committee
members volunteered to serve another term
to plan and organize this event in 1985.

Owners of household washer -dryer units
made in Spain by New Pol are warned to
stop using' them immediately because of a
potential fire and shock hazard.
The Canadian Standards Association
( CSA ) says a number of fires have been
reportedly caused by these machines which
bear Model Number 1081.
CSA says inspection has shown they do not
comply to details of construction as required
by its certification and that these machines
bear,the CSA mark illegally.
It is recommended that owners
immediately cease the use of these
machines and return them to the retail
