Lioness Club will stage winter music series
Sununer's close does not mean the end of
entertainment and special events in
Bayfield. Last fall and winter a bright spot
of quality entertainment and fun was
brought to Bayfield byffie Lioness Club.
Their Youth and. Music Series was an
overwhelming success, and again in the
1984-'85 the concert program will be
featured here.
This year the Lioness Club will feature
some of Canada's, finest young musicians in
their four part concert series.
Indiana University (1981) and is currently
studying for his Master's degree with
Menachem Pressler. He ,is a recipient of
many prizes, including the prestigious
Battista Memorial Award from Indiana
University.
Trio Bowkum
flute, violoncello
and piano
One of the most unique chamber
ensembles in Canada, the Bowkum Trio
combines its unusual instrumentation of
flute,, cello and piano with innovative
presentation. This talented group takes
special joy in presenting rare genres by
lesser known composers. The trio presents a
repertoire that pleases audiences of diverse
musical tastes.
The BovvInurn Trio has written several
musical scores for both TV and film and
they have just recorded their first album.
They will be featured in Bayfield on
Tuesday, November 27.
You will be offered a delightful and
enjoyable evening of music by two
outstanding artists.
In 1979, Gianetta Baril and James McLean
formed the group Lyracord. Since then, they
have appeared on CBC and at the Guelph
Spring Festival. They have toured
throughout Ontario under the auspices of
Youth and Music.
Lyracord's concert includes songs and
arias, both original and transcribed for harp
solos, all drawn from three centuries of
wick.
Lamentabile Consort,
Vocal Qumtet
This youthful choral ensemble, formed
in
1978, has performed extensively not only in
its native Sweden, but throughout Europe.
The Consort's five male members perform a
capella, and two of the five members are
countertenors.. Accordingly, their repertoire
is extensive, including music from the 15th
century to the present day.
Making their North American debut, 'this
ensemble must be seen and heard. They will
-perform in Bayfield on Tuesday, May 7.
All concerts in the Youth and Music series
will be held at the Bayfield Community
Centre, starting at 8 p.m.

and Jeffrey Cohen
Violin and piano
The Youth and Music Series will get
underway on Tuesday, October 30 with
Robert and Cohen. •
Lucie Robert began studying violin at the
age of five. A two-time winner of the
Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition
(in 1975 and 1978) and.a winner of the Joseph
Joachim International Competition in
Austria (1981), she has been heard
throughout Canada and Agstria and has
performed on several radio bkoadcasts.
Pianist Jeffrey Cohen is a graduate of

talents of Lyracord will be seen and
in Bayfield on Tuesday, March 26.
•The Morris Dancers for London' visited Bayfield recently to take part in the Bicentennial
Cricket match, The old English folk dancers are a favorite in Bayfield and have
