Area dining establishments offer culinary diversity
Bayfield has established itself as an
epicure's delight.
This sparkling village offers a wide
variety of fine eating establishments to
please all tastes.

Red Pump
1984 is a special year for The Red Pump.
This year the Main Street restaurant has
been recommended by dining critics in the
book, Where to Eat in Canada.
In its 12 year history, The Red Pump has
established itself as one of the finest dining
spots in the area.
Plan to spend an evening at The Red
Pump, it's a perfect spot for a secret tete-a-
tete. Luxurious and classic, the restaurant
features romantic, quiet candlelight dining.
The sophisticated atmosphere
accompanies a top rated menu of
continental cuisine, served a la carte.
Specialty dishes are spring lamb, fresh fish
and homemade cheesecakes.
This year The Red Pump • underwent
major renovations at owner Harry Israel
build an additional dining area and restyled
the outdoor garden are. The Red Pump can
now accommodate 115 diners and facilities
are available for small banquets. As well,
another 30 guests can dine in the cool,
comfort of the outdoor garden area.
The New Ritz
Bayfield's newest -oldest restaurant and
hotel is The New Ritz.
Owner Roger Pemberton has just opened
for business and has given the former EAT
Co. a brand new look.
The New Ritz is located on the foundation
of Bayfield's original Ritz Hotel and Roger
has combined a traditional and modern
atmosphere to the new establishment. His 50
seat dining room has a bright, light appeal
and is complimented by the magnificent
cherry wood bar from the old Ritz hotel.,
The New Ritz will also feature 10 rooms
for overnight guests. Roger plans to have
them open in another two weeks and he says
the main theme of the hotel will be comfort.
His dining menu features a variety of
taste treats, from Japanese to Italian
dishes, daily specials and fresh lobster,
flown in on Mondays from the east coast:
The Little Inn
Bayfield restaurants and inns are getting
bigger and better in 1984.
The Little Inn has also gone through
major changes this year.°The Inn's modern
conveniences and old fashioned charm have
been enhanced with the restoration and new
addition.
This spring, restoration of the Inn's'
adjacent carriage house and a new addition,
provided the Bayfield establishment with 10
new rooms, whirlpool and sauna and a
dining area that seats 60.
The popular weekend retreat now offers 23
rooms and dining facilities for more than 100
guests.
The appeal of The Little Inn is its old,
fashioned character. The country inn is
filled with Victorian charm and the dining

room and outdoor verandah are perfect for
extended dinners or long lunches.

Albion Hotel
One of Ba-yfield's oldest inns is The Albion
Hotel. The Albion's beginnings date back to
1856 and the Main Street establishment has
retained much of its original character.
New owners Ed and Wanda Fogarty have
plans to further emphasize this theme with
some redecorating plans.
The Albion's dining room is a popular
eating spot for local residents andtourists
alike. The menu features luncheon specials,
spareribs, fresh Lake Huron perch and
Friday night fish fries.
The hotel also offers overnight
accommodation at daily, weekly and
monthly rates.
Pizza Palace
If you're craving Italian food, The Pizza
Palace is the place to visit.
Pizza, lasagne, spaghetti, garlic bread
and crisp salads are the specialties at this
Main Street restaurant.
Also undergoing major renovations this
year, The Pizza. Palace now features an
area for quiet dining and a patio for outdoor
dining under the stars ora cool drink in the
afternoon.
A new exterior look, complete withwhite
trim and a picket fence makes The Pizza
Palace an attractive new addition to the
Main Street scene.
The Village Inn
Just nortli of the village, on Highway 21, is
Bayfield's most contemporary hotel and
restaurant.
The Village Inn offers a large dining
room, a comfortable lounge, overnight
accommodation for 10, an indoor pool and
whirlpool.
The dining room menu features a good
salad bar and a wide selection of entrees,
including daily specials.
Visitors seeking overnight
accommodation enjoy tastefully furnished
rooms, a heated pool and 19 acres of bush -
trails for summer hiking or winter cross
country skiing.
Harbor Lights
For a great view of the Bayfield Harbor
and the magnificent boats docked there,
visit the outdoor patio at Harbor Lights
Restaurant.
Situated on the north shore of the harbor,
this restaurant is located where the nautical
action is. The decor highlights this theme
and the menu caters to the good appetites
that the outdoors inspires.
Harbor Lights is perfect for an extended
dinner, breakfast, a light lunch or a relaxing
drink on the deck. The nearby harbor

Captain's Cove
Just as the name implies, this dining room
and lounge features a swashbuckling

comfortable dining area and a fireside
dining lounge. Captain's Cove has
established itself as a favorite spot, year
round, for area residents and visitors.
Tank and Tummy
Breakfast, fish and chips and a full take
out menu are featured at the Tank and
Tummy. Hamburgers, hot dogs and other
fast foods are also available.
The Tank and Tummy, located on
Highway 21 South is open any day of the
week and as the name says, this place is for
fill -ups, whether it be your car's gas tank or
your tummy.
Woodland Drive-in
For a quick meal, the Woodland Drive Inn
is a good place to stop. It's located on Huron
County Road 3, off Highway 21 South.
It features a variety of fast foods, from
foot long hot dogs, to their famous chicken
dinners. Soft ice cream, sundaes and cones
are also available.
Woodland Drive In's quiet atmosphere
and treed location make it an ideal place to
relax for holiday travellers.
Uncle John's Cabin
If its ice cream you're after, Uncle John's
Cabin is the place to visit.
This little Main Street shop is one of the
busiest spots, all summer long. Ice cream
cones are the feature item here, along with
slushes, sundaes, shakes and floats.
Ice cream flavors range from traditional
vanilla to trendy pina colada.
Sugar gush Inn
Good home cooking and plenty of
hospitality is what Bob and Fran Peters,
new owners of The Sugar Bush Inn in
Bayfield, pride themselves on. The couple
recently purchased the restaurant and
motel after having sold another motel in
Woodstock.
"One of the main things we have noticed
about this area is the beauty and the friendly
people," said Fran Peters.
