- of, the Happy- Gang geninr Citizens Club
were present to .receive a $4,708gr4nt from
Huron -Bruce MP Murray Cardiff.
The financing, provided through a New
Horizons program., was accepted -by Happy
Gang President Beth Knox, and the club's
founding president Myrtle Fairservice.
Mrs. Fairservice, formerly of Londesboro
and now of Huronview, started the club on
July 8, 1981. At the.recent club meeting she
recited poems.
President Knox thanked Mr. Cardiff and
explained that the money will be used to.
purchase tables, chairs, a new stove and
other equipment for the hall.
Burns UCW meet
The Burns UCW held their dinner meeting
on June 6 at the home of Gloria McEwing,
with 21 present,.
The losers in the copper contest provided
the first course and the winners provided
dessert.
Hazel Reid opened the meeting and others
taking part were Josephine MacGregor,
Mrs. McEwing and Jean Leiper. The guest
speaker was Colin Swan.
On behalf of the Burns UCW, Joan
Middegaal presented Mr. Swan and his
family with a going away gift.
Jean Scott conducted the business and

He announced that the memorial service
will be held on June 17 $t 2 p.m. for the
Londesboro, Burns and Kinburn cemeteries.
Gail Lear's piano recital will be held on
June 14 at 8 p.m. at the church. The UCW
meeting is scheduled for June 18 at 8 p.m.
and the guest speaker will be Janet Clark of
Wingham She will talk about coping with
long illness and deathln the family.
On June 17 the exchange service with
Blyth Trinity Anglican Church will be held
at Londesboro, starting at 11 a.m.
Promotion and awards Sunday is June 24.
• Mr. Swan welcomed special guest, Rev.
Bob Scott, a former Londesboro minister.
He now lives in Fernie B.C. and was in
Ontario to attend a moderators' conference
in London.

meeting on June 6.
Mr. and Mrs.. Edwin Wood were guests on
Sunday at the home of Stan and June Johns
of Tuckersmith for their 25th wedding
anniversary dinner.
John Cartwright met Rev. Bob Scott who
is attending the Westminister College
moderators' conference in London.
Florence Cartwright, John and Claude
visited on Sunday with her sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Leroy Kuntz and family in Kitchener.
