` This month-long celebration is a perfect
opportunity for all of us to reflect on the
importance of the family to our well-being,"
said the Honourable Gordon H. Dean,
Provincial Secretary for Social
Development. "The preservation of
cultural, . religious and familial traditions
begins with the family and provides a strong
foundation for our country's future".
During May, . municipalities, religious
organizations, schools and community
groups are • being encouraged to organize
special activities which focus attention- on
the family. "In previous years, various
communities _,have hosted Family Day
nature hikes, tree planting ceremonies,
picnics, outdoor concerts and symposiums
on the family.
"By taking part in these and other
celebrations, it is hoped that family
members will realize and appreciate the
benefits ,that abound in family relationships
and ties," said Dean. "That is why we have
chosen `Rediscover' Each Other' as this
year's Family Unity Month theme."

On Monday, May 7, 1984, twelve Members
of the Clinton Lions Club made a visit to the
Zurich Lions Club and this was in place of
our regular scheduled meeting for Tuesday,
May 8th. All members had a very nice time,
enjoying the hospitality of the Zurich Lions.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 28th and
29th, 1984, Lion Gord Harkes and his wife
Hilda attended the mini convention at Port
Elgin and while it was disappointing that he
was the only member representing the Clin-
ton Club, he informs the writer that they did
indeed enjoy themselves very much.
The next meeting of the club will be held
at the White Carnation on Tuesday, May 22,
1984.
