Hallett School
concert band
Performing a variety of pieces on
May 18,` for Clinton Klompen Feest, will
be the H.ullett Central School Concert
band.
The audience can expect medleys,
marches and one piece that is described
by Bruce Cookson, band director, as,
"A piece with a medieval theme telling
of knighthood while using a modern
sound." The piece will include a solo by
a trombone and a baritone.
There are approximately 20 students
in the school band, and they are
comprised of Grade 7 and 8 students.
Mr. Cookson said that the majority of
the students have been playing for one
or two years.
The students are not the only ones
with experience in the music field. Mr.
Cookson has the equivalent of an honors
degree in music from the University of
Western Ontario where he studied the
oboe. He received training on the piano'
and oboe from professionals. The music
instructor said that when he studied
music he was required to learn almost
every. instrument ,found in a concert

This has been the'third year the band
has been involved with Klompen Feest
and the seventh year they have in
existence.
