Klompen Feest;
an idea is born
It was just a little over four years ago
plans were announced for Clinton's first
Klompen Feest celebration.
The plan was developed by the
Clinton. Business Improvement Area
and their plans quickly gained the
support of local merchants and area
residents, including the Dutch
community who offered their help td
make Klompen Feest a grand replica of
the authentic Holland celebrations.
Bob Campbell, chairman of the
committee noted, "Our area is very
fortunate to have been chosen by these
people. They have improved their
farms and homes and have made Huron
County a showplace in the agricultural
picture -and their prosperity has added
greatly to the economic well-being of
the entire area. With this in mind, it
was only fitting that the festival should
honor these new citizens by taking the
Dutch theme."
Countless hours of talent and work
have been put into Klompen Feest since
that time, back in 1980. Sincethen
_Clinton has held three highly successful
Feests and the fourth annual- __
celebration promises to be bigger and
better than ever.
