Clinton News-Record, 1984-05-09, Page 27Hello again
For the fourth consecutive year it is
my privilege and pleasure to welcome
one and all to the Clinton Klompen
Feest.
The two day Ethnic Festival with a
Dutch flavor will be held in the Clinton
Community Park May 18 and 19.
The Committee Chairmen and their
respective committees have worked
many long hours to put together an in-
teresting and worthwhile program, one
which we hope and trust will be of in-
terest to and enjoyed by all.
' Each year our aim is to present
something different from the previous
year, and we feel that '84 should be the
best yet.
The program of events is printed
elsewhere in this booklet, but I want to
-mention some of the highlights of the
Klompen Feest. On May 5 the Queen of
the Klompen Feest was judged and
crowned. She will participate in many
of the.Feest events.
The Friday evening May 18 program
is again made up of local talent and
winds up with a family dance on the .
arena floor to the music of Leo Bal and
his accordion. It is hoped that all ages
will stay and enjoy this talented musi-
cian.
Saturday features the Giant Parade
at 1 p.m., the afternoon program, the
Chicken Dinner and the Klompen Feest
Dance in the arena at 9 p.m. to the
music of Whiskey Jack. For those who
do not dance there is a presentation of a
three act play in the Clinton Christian
School Auditorium titled 'n Wespen-
nest, in the Dutch Language.
Your Klompen Feest Committee re-
quires the co-operation of all citizens of
the area to make Klompen Feest a suc-
cess. We trust that you will purchase
the tickets on our KLM Draw for two
seats to ;Holland, these are with the
compliments of KLM Royal Dutch
Airlines to whom we owe our thanks
and appreciation. In order to assist the
committee in charge of the dinner we
ask that you purchase your dinner
tickets as early, as possible so that we
might have a better idea of how many
dinners to prepare.
We hope you enjoy Klompen Feest
and that you will tell your friends what
our Feest is all about. We are not expec-
. ting to make a big profit from our
event, but if we do finish with a balance
in the bank, our committee has pledged
to contribute excess profits to the
Building Fund of Clinton Public
Hospital.
Yours Truly,
Bob Campbell Chairman
