Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carter and Colleen visited on Saturday night with Cathy Broome in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. egq:17-71-• Clinton WI entertain Londesboro ladies at lunch CLINTON - A noon luncheon was held by the members of the Clinton Women's In- stitute (WI) on April 26 followed by the an- nual meeting of the branch. Members welcomed Mrs. Margaret Taylor of the Londesboro branch, as she related her experiences on a trip to Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti from Jan. 9-31, 1984. Travelling from Toronto air- port they travelled via San Francisco, Hawaii, to Townsville, Australia. Travelling by bus they reached the City of Cairms. Mrs. Taylor illustrated her tour with pic- tures of particular interest were the grey and red Kangaroo. They can travel at a rate of 40 miles an hour, and_they can leap 20-25 feet. The popular koalas are not bears. The famous Ayers Rock is so large it reaches five miles to walk around it. Sydney is a beautiful city, and it's opera house holds 1600 people. Mrs. Taylor brought back many souvenirs including jewellery portraying the opal gems that are mined in that coun- try, ,1 Our Mother's Day Specials! Mrs. Taylor also visited Maori country, and had samples of their exquisite carving. There are 71 million sheep in Australia and grass grows all year round. Tahiti is a French Island with Palm trees that only grow near salt water. It takes 15 years before a tree is develped to bear co- conuts. Mrs. Taylor was thanked for her in- teresting travelogue by the President Mrs. Lois Elliott who presented her with a gift. The Clinton Branch wil be looking after the kit- chen duties at the Huronview Tea on June 20.
