Clinton WI entertain
Londesboro ladies at lunch
CLINTON - A noon luncheon was held by
the members of the Clinton Women's In-
stitute (WI) on April 26 followed by the an-
nual meeting of the branch.
Members welcomed Mrs. Margaret
Taylor of the Londesboro branch, as she
related her experiences on a trip to
Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti from
Jan. 9-31, 1984. Travelling from Toronto air-
port they travelled via San Francisco,
Hawaii, to Townsville, Australia. Travelling
by bus they reached the City of Cairms.
Mrs. Taylor illustrated her tour with pic-
tures of particular interest were the grey
and red Kangaroo. They can travel at a rate
of 40 miles an hour, and_they can leap 20-25
feet. The popular koalas are not bears. The
famous Ayers Rock is so large it reaches
five miles to walk around it. Sydney is a
beautiful city, and it's opera house holds
1600 people. Mrs. Taylor brought back many
souvenirs including jewellery portraying
the opal gems that are mined in that coun-
try,

There are 71 million sheep in Australia and

grow near salt water. It takes 15 years
before a tree is develped to bear co-
conuts.
