Piano recital held in Blyth
The 27th piano recital by students of
Shirley E. Vincent, A.R.T.C. was held in
Blyth United Church on May 7. It was
characterized by beautiful flower ar-
rangements, programs with a flair designed
by Betty Battye, and words of welcome by
Rev. Ken Bauman who addressed the
students with congratulatory and encourag-
ing words at the closing of the recital.
This year guest performers added diver-
sification of talent. Krista Kraft and Scott
Cronin rendered vocal solos, Heather
Bauman played two numbers on her flute,
and Jennifer Allan joined Kim Medd in a
vocal duet. Two numbers, that delighted the
audience, especially the performers were
duets played by their teacher Mrs. Vincent'
and a highly talented young gentleman,
Chris Royal, who had returned jiiSt hours
before the recital from a 10 day 'visit to
Fredericton, N.B. which will be his new
home city in the fall.
Those who are regular attendants at the
Vincent Recitals said. they were pleased,
and in some cases amazed, at the develop-
ment of technique, expression, and con-
fidence displayed by the young artists
through their years4 study. This was evi-
dent in the concluding number, by the senior
student Wendy Martin, Grade X.
Courtesy remarks went to Joan Watson
for her assistance in the recital organiza-
tion, to Mrs. Vincent for her untiring in-
terest in the progress of each student. To
show appreciation, Kim and Tammy Medd,
on behalf of the 18 performers, presented
their teacher with a gift.
As is her custom, Mrs. Vincent turned
over the entire proceeds from the free will
offering ofthis recital to her 1.TCW unit.
The following are the names of Mrs. Vin-
cent's piano students who took part: Grade I
Tammy Medd, Stephanie Lentz; Grade II
Judith Booth, Joyce Dickson; ,Grade Kim -
Medd; Grade IV Sherri Lavis; Grade V
Debbie Bannister, Jane Whitmore; Grade
VI Leona Cunningham, Rose Ann Machan,
Lisa Watson, Chris Royal; Grade VII Gayle
Poor, Julie Cunningham, Betty Battye;
Grade VIII Steacy Elliott, Pauline Webster;
Grade X Wendy Martin.

larger the bird, the better the ratio of meat
