Clinton This year the Clinton Horticultural Society have received permission from town council to plant a special flower bed. The project will commemorate the province's bicentennial and will be located at Sloman Memorial Park. Founded in 1890, the club's executive today include president, Dorothy Williams; first vice president, Margaret Middleton; second vice president, Mike Falconer; treasurer, Kathleen Elliott; secretary, Olive Johnston; junior gardener leaders, Marlon- Powelland'Kathleen Tait; historian, Dorothy Marquis. The club holds monthly meetings and sponsor two annual flower shows The first, the Rose Show, walla held ofi June 22 at St. Paul's Anglican Church. The second event, the Mina Flower Show will be held on Aug. .24 at .Central Huron Secondary School. - As well the club is planning a special mystery bus tour on Oct. 17. Club member Margaret Sloman said that the trip will definitely be, "horticulturally oriented." Goderich The Goderich Garden Club was founded in the 1900s by Harry Edwards. By 1961 the club: had changed its name from -the Goderich Horticultural Society to the Goderich Garden Club. Goderich Garden Club meetings feature guest speakers. The speakers give expert gardening and flower arranging tips and meetings also take the form of panel discussions. As well, the club takes at least two bus trips including one to the Toronto Garden Show. The club's yearly highlight is their summer Flower Festival. Executive members are: president, Norman Hazlitt; secretary Beatrice Sparling; active treasurer, Doris Hawthorne; one year directors, Margaret Alton, Edith Argyle, Enid Bell, Vera Margerm, Vi Rutherford; two year directors, Jessie Beach, Tom Grasby, Grace Hunter, Joan Stadelmann, Donna Young. Other valuable members are, program convenor, Dorothy Feagan; membership convenor, , -Stella Crawford; lunch committee, Peg Lumsden; Flower Festival organizer, Edna Shaw. Lucknow Reorganized on Dec. 4, 1958 by Charles Bristow, the Lucknow Horticultural Club hold general and board meetings about once a month. There are also 10 directors who form the society's board. Every year the club takes part in the Lucknow Home and Garden Show. They also organize bus trips and attend a tour of local gardens. Their annual flower show is held in Aug: and they enter a float in the fall fair. Lucknow's Horticultural. Society also maintain. numerous flower beds, are involved in a tree planting ceremony and participate in a summer student employment program. This year the club hopes toorganize a bicentennial garden party. Bayfield Perhaps one of the youngest horticultural Societies in the area is in Bayfield. Fives years ago4 Doris Hunter organized the branching of the Bayfield group from the Clinton Horticultural Society. The Bayfield Society began with 100 members and soon grew to its present membership of over 150. The club is involved in a number of village projects, including planting flower beds and. tubs. They are also responsible for replacing maple trees in the village's Clan Gregor Square. On May 12, society members will plant a row of flowering crab trees to honor ' Ontario's 200th birthday. Executive members are: president, Herbert Beatty; first vice president, Harold Beakhust; second vice, president, Leda McAllister; secretary, Esther Wright; • treasurer, Dora Warwick. There are approximately nine members who sit on the board of directors and they serve on a one or two year basis. The club hosts ari'd annual Garden Walk tour and sponsor prizes at the Bayfield Fall Fair.
