More than '70 persons who made up 38 en-
tries braved pouring rain and cold water
last Good Friday as they raised over $200 in
the second annual Hully Gully, Bayfield
. Lions Bunny Bundle Canoe Race for Crippl-
ed Children.
Complete hydro service was restored to
Huron County on Wednesday morning after
a temporary by-pass hydro line was con-
structed around the five 130 -foot hydro
towers that were knocked down or damaged
after a tornado touched down last Sunday
afternoon in Perth County, just one mile
from the Tuckersmith-Hibbert Townline

The week of May 3 to 9 will be Clean -Up
week in Clinton. A proclamation from
Mayor B. Stanley, announcing the event was
authorized at council's meeting on Monday
evening.
We had the streets swept and the people
on the east side of Albert Street were
honored to have that section attended to
first. The streets department reported that
additional revenue was very small. "Hoot"
garnered only 11 cents, and one of his
helpers gained one cent. They remarked
that there was not much "loose money" in
Clinton these days ...

Clinton's first Amateur Radio
Transmitting, Station VE3UQ was built and
set working by John E. Cuninghame, only
son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon W. Cun-
inghame, at his home in Rattenbury Street.
It was first licenced on September 18th,
1933, and shortly afterwards it was com-
pleted and put on the air as an experimental
amateur station, broadcasting to other
amateur stations and receiving messages in
-reply on short waves.
A woman writes that when talking over
the telephone she can hear much better if
she closes her eyes. We don't know as to
that, but in conipany a woman can taus and`
hear all the better when she has her eyes
open. •

This is the season when the lawns "and
boulevards are much damaged by
thoughtless children, delivery men, and
others walking over them instead of keeping
to the walks. Give the grass a chance.
Rural Telephones - The Farmers'
Telephone Co. movement is taking definite
shape, and organization is being effected. •
The Company will be called the North Huron
Telephone Co. Already a block of stock has
been sold and a charter will be applied for
forthwith.'
Notice- To merchants and all others whom
it may concern! I warn them not to give
credit to my wife for anything, in my name,
as I have sold all my property and settled
with her.

Mr. Archibald McDougall arrived home
last Saturday from Manitoba, where he has
been all winter, as catechist in connection
with the Presbyterian Church. He reports
hard times and discontent as felt and heard
everywhere, and states that land regula-
tions are a curse to the country, and predicts
open rebellion in the near future.
