Clinton News-Record, 1984-03-21, Page 20Naturu:LIy Spaaktng.' 14, A break The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters has been recognized, from its in- ception, as a crusader for clean water and clean air, so it's no real surprise to hear about another program they are involved in. And a "reel" surprise it is. The OFAH and Sports Mitchell Canada Inc. have teamed up to offer fishermen the world famous Mit- chell 300A spinning reel for a super price, and pay for some real conservation at the same time. The Mitchell People have offered this ex- cellent, reel to fishermen, along with a distinctive cap, at a price only slightly aboye_their_manuiacturin& cost. The OFAH have offered to handle the drsfribution at no cost, and for. every reef sold;47:50--wi`ir be .._._.placed- -in—a- •speeial--€toad-for-ked- -fa fisheries -related conservation projects. The regular price for the reel and hat is $39.95, but this special deal offers it to the sport- sman for only $29.95. What a way to get a new fishing outfit, and benefit the fish at the same time. You can get yours by sending a cheque or M.O. payable to the OFAH for $9 _95 plus .$2.10 sales tax and $2 postage to Sports Mitchell, Box 28, Peterborough, On- tario, K9J 6Y5 (don't forget to include your return name and address). While you're at it, if you don't already belong to the Federa- tion, why, not ask for a membership brochure and application form. It doesn't cost any extra, and you may find you're in- terested. Oh yes, when you purchase a reel, your name is also automatically entered in a. draw for a $1,500.00, 9.9 H.P. Johnson out- board motor which has been generously donated by Outboard Marine Corporation. I've examined the offer from many dif-• ferent angles, and cannot find any way you might lose. When you buy a Mitchell 300A ( specify a 301A for left handers), you win by having one of the best reels manufactured. Yo.u_max win. the .grand.prize of the outboard motor, but you will definitely be a winner again several times over when the fruits from the projects created by the fund start showing up. Both the Ministry of Natural Resources ( Provincial) and the . Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans ( Federal) have been challenged By Steve Cooke for fishermen to match dollar for dollar that amount put up by sports .fishermen to help clean up,our natural environment. The specific prooects they will be involved with include acid rain, fish habitat improvement,, stocking, resear- ch, and the preservation, of sports fishing for future generations. Federation members have already been very active in stream rehabilitation and clean up, lake reclama- tion, and walleye and trout stoeking, so the extra projects generated by these funds will be a big added boost. Maybe there will be help for our sport fishery after all.
