UCW meet
The Burns UCW March meeting was held
at the home of Mrs. Gordon McGregor in
Clinton.
The topic "The changing year" was
presented by Hazel Reid, Joan Hoggarth,
Jean Leiper and Josephine McGregor and
Hazel Reid led in prayer.
President Mrs. Rick was in charge of the
business. Roll call was answered by paying
fees.
Minutes of the previousmeeting and
treasurers report by Margaret Taylor.
An invitation was received to attend the
Seaforth Northside United Church Thankof-
'fering`meeting on -March 26 at 8 p.m. and
motions were presented to make donation
to Bible society, pay allocation and place
Easter Lily in church for Easter Sunday.
Captains for the copper contest are Gloria
McEwing and Kay Konarski. Coppersare to
be taken to the May meeting.
Personals
Mrs. Bob (Jessie) Snell died on Saturday
in Halifax with cremation there. A
memorial service will be held in Ontario
Street Church in. Clinton on March 24 at 2:30
p.m. Sympathy is expressed to her children
Lorne, Thelma and Keith.
Mrs. Wayne Jackson and Sandra of
Ridgetown spent the past week with her
parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen.
Elizabeth Lawson spent the weekend in
London with Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Warren.
On Saturday John Turner, Mr. and Mrs.
George Turner, Barry and Bonnie visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Reg Lawson.
Sandra Popp and Cathy of London spent a
couple of days last week with her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Good.

Londesboro 14-H
The fourth meeting of the Londesboro I 4-
H homemaking club was held at the home of.
Mary Buffinga.
Members opened the meeting with the 4-H
• Pledge. Then the leaders looked at the str-
ing quilted samples' and . complimented
members on them. Members then took out
material for the moon over the mountain
sample, and were showed what to do. The
next meeting is to be held at Linda Van
Spengen's. .

Marilyn McDonald with other members of
Walton 11 unit reading -different scriptures.
Marion Godkin had different words writ,
ten on pieces -of paper for the topic on
_Stewardship and Finance. assisted by
Doreen Hartwell. -
Business was chaired by Helen Craig, up-
coming events were to be brought back to
the unit meetings.
Euchre Held .
Tuesday night euchre was held in the com-
munity hall with five tables in play. Winners
were: high lady, Phyllis Mitchell; low,
Leona. McDonald; high man, TorranceDun-
das; low, Bert Doer; lucky table, Em -mer
son Mitchell, Rena Watt, Margaret Craig
and John Simpson. Institute hostesses were
Alberta Stevens, Annie Reid, Marjorie
Humphries and Berva Watson. You are

• Members were reminded of the pancake
breakfast at the church on March 25 from 8
till 10. a.m. prior to the morning service at
10:30 a.m. Invitations were accepted from
Northside United Church, Seaforth to attend
their Thankoffering March 26 at 8 p.m.
Blyth United Church will hold their
Thankoffering on April 15. The president
urged several ladies to plan to go to these
meetings.
Plans were finalized for the Thankoffer-
. ing at Duff's United on April 1 at 8 p.m.
Special music will be provided by the Har-
mony Highlights of Seaforth and area.
The bale will be packed .after May 27.
Easter lilies will be ordered for the shut-ins.
Aug. 3 and Aug. 10 are the dates set to serve
meals prier to the Blyth Festival. It was
voted tove,a Bakeless Bake Sale for next
month.

and McClure Drainage will be guest speaker
for the Agriculture and Industries meeting
of the Walton Women's Institute at the hall,
on March 21 at 8:30 p.m. It's an open
meeting, anyone interested is welcome to
attend,
The Institute served another successful
Pork luncheon on Marey 14. That afternoon
they went to the Callander Nursing Home in
Brussels and entertained for the March bir-
thday party for the residents.
Margaret Shortreed opened the meeting
with a singsong and Blaine Marks played a
Medley of numbers on his violin accom-
panied by Marjorie Humphries at the piano.
Shannon Craig and Sharon Godkin sang a
duet with Marion Godkin at the piano. Nan-
cy Godkin played a piano solo. Gifts were
given to those with birthdays this month.
Cupcakes and tea were served.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coutts visited recently -
with their daughter Connie Ingram of
Mississauga.
Several area girls accompanied the
Seaforth Girls Band on their trip to Myrtle
Beach for thewinter break week.
Mrs. Kathy Humphries of London spent a
few days during the winter break week with
her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Humphries.
Welcome home to Tony Thames who
returned home recently from Stratford
Hospital where he spent several weeks
following his snowmobile accident last.

Clinton spend a few days-ofthe-winter-break--
week with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Coutts.
Mrs. Alvin McDonald arrived home Fri-
day from Seaforth Hospital being confined
for 12 days. Her friends wish her a speedy
recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Marks of Exeter
called on Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Marks Sun-
day aftern on.
The Walton Area Sport Club sponsored a
dance in the Brussels Legion on SAturday
evening when many people in the surroun-
ding areas'attended. Music was supplied by
Steven's Country Gold. Several prizes were
given out during the evening.
Mr. -Harold Bolger- has been a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital; London for the past
week. We all wish much improvement, so he
is able to return home.
Miss Mary Alice Ryan was taken to
University Hospital, London early Saturday
morning when her arm was injured in a
freak accident. We all wish her a successful
recovery. She is the daughter of Gerald and
Ann Ryan.
Clinton 4®H'ers
pick their colors
The third meeting of the Clinton III 4-H
Club was held on Feb. 22. Members picked
their colors for the next 'sampler, string
quilting:
__ The Feb. 111:__meeting_ was cancelled
because of stormy- ..weather and was
rescheduled for March 7. This was a catch-
up meeting and members finished their
string quilting and began the moon over the
mountain print.
It was decided that the club name will be
the Sewing Sweeties.
